Chapter 40

    
Hailey Hughes POV

     Matty and I head straight to the restaurant where our families are waiting for us at . My dad arranged for us to have a private room with a large enough table for all of us to sit together. I'm getting very nervous but also so excited to tell everyone about the baby .

     I just want everyone to be as excited as we are , it will also be nice to not have to hide my symptoms from so many people . I'd also like to be able to ask my mama and Chantal questions about pregnancy and motherhood. I know we have a ton of time before the baby gets here but time goes by so fast .

      " it's going to be fine baby , they're all gonna be so happy for us . It's our parents first grandchild. Parents love grandchildren!." I chuckle at Matty's attempts to calm me down . I love him so much , I'm so glad he's beside me on this crazy journey. I wouldn't want to do this with anyone but him.

     We arrive at the restaurant a few minutes later and take our seats near our siblings . The parents are at the other end of the table , talking about who knows what .  After the waiter took our order and left the private room Matty and I made eye contact and nodded at each other .

    On the way here we decided it was best if Matt told everyone , well I decided. He was a good sport about it , I'm definitely too anxious to get any words out right now. " um .. so , I actually wanted to tell you all something, it's pretty rare to get all of us together at one place and time so I think it's the right time to tell you all...."

     " Jesus! Matt spit it out already . You've been rambling for like an hour already !" Brady yells out dramatically and everyone laughs " shut up Brady !  anyway as I was saying...... Hailey and I are having a baby !" All the jaws around the table have dropped as matty utters those words.

      " what!" Jack yells out , " I'm an uncle ?" Luke asks confused "you knocked up my sister" Quinn asks pissed off , " I'm gonna be an auntie !" Both Taryn and Emma squeal "I'm so gonna be the godfather " Brady says while smirking. Our parents are still in shock and have yet to leave the state of shock they're in.

     " your pregnant, that's why you were acting so weird" my dad says as he comes out of his shock . " , " we're gonna be grandmas!" The moms shout in excitement "we'll at least the kid has Hailey as a mother , I'd be worried if it was anyone else ." Keith jokes to Matt
" he's gonna be a great dad, he's been so supportive and sweet so far ." I tell them . " how far along are you , when are you due, do you have an ultrasound picture . " our moms asks .

        I reach into my purse and pull out the two sets of photos out doctor printed out for our parents during our last appointment and hand them to both of our moms. " I'm due in late august and I'm almost twelve weeks" I tell everyone.  " oh my gosh , it takes me back to when I was pregnant with all my babies" Chantal says and my mom agrees.

      " how are you feeling hon" my mom asks me as she hands the photo to my dad. "I'm tired all the time , my chest hurts most days , I'm nauseous a lot but thanks to the medication the doctor gave me I'm not spending most of my days puking my guts out so that's good" . My brothers and Brady laugh  .

      " so what's the plan with the off season then" my dad asks Matt and I.
" um hopefully we can spend time in both Michigan and St. Louis before I'm too far along and not allowed to fly . But I definitely want to have time to get things ready here in Miami for the baby ."

      That's the one thing I would change about the baby , their due date . I probably won't be able to fly after like July fourteenth . Depending on how well the panthers do in the playoffs is when we can start visiting our family . If the panthers go to the Stanley cup finals again like last year , the season won't end until like mid to late June .

      " I can't believe my twin is having a baby" jack says " I'm gonna be its favorite uncle". My brothers and Brady instantly reject that notion and begin arguing with each other over who will be the favorite and then the argument moves onto who the godfather will be .

     I can hear my parents discussing what they want they want the baby to call them . I definitely get a kick out of a few of the names Keith puts out . Im pretty sure Emma and Taryn are planning my baby shower already , I've heard rumors of a Barbie theme for a girl and obviously hockey themed for a boy .

      Matty and I just smile at each other and enjoy this moment. I can't believe I'm getting to marry this man , not only that but I'm gonna have his baby! I can't wait to hold this little part of us I'm my arms . I hope our baby looks like matty,  blonde curls and ocean blue eyes.

I ended up staying in Michigan for the rest of Matt's road-trip . I had a ton of fun getting to know the employees of the Sweet Hughes Michigan location. The bakery has been busy ever since it opened and the crew here is handing the online orders like they've been doing it for years .

        I know that with Michigan taking most of the online orders from the Midwest and farther out west , it will take a ton of stress off my crew in Miami . I've heard from the manager in Miami that the renovations to the new oven room is complete and they are back in business . The staff all have been raving about having more ovens .

I've been feeling less and less sick these past few days , I'm so excited for what's next when I finally enter second trimester. I just can't wait to feel the baby move and kick . Matty and I are also so excited to learn the gender so we can really start buying clothes , decorating the nursery and picking out names .So many good things are coming our way , I can't wait to see what's next .

From this point forward the story will do time jumps !!!!
