Chapter 32

We've been back in Miami for a week now , Cooper has been settling in quite nicely. He loves it here in Miami , I think his favorite part is our pool in the backyard . Like a true lab , coop loves water in any form .

I think back on how well my proposal went , everything was better than I had imagined. I couldn't have been happier that day . Waking up each day next to Hailey and seeing that ring on her finger is surreal. I'm glad Hailey liked all the changes I had made to the house during renovations.

In the future after Im retired , I'd love to move back to St. Louis full time and raise our kids in that house . Hailey even expressed interest in opening a third bakery in St. Louis in the next year . I'm excited for this summer with Hailey back in my hometown and in Michigan with her family .

I know we probably don't have enough time to plan a wedding this summer but I wish we did , I just want to marry her already. I know I sound like I'm trying to rush things along but I just feel like we spent too long just being friends when we could have had so much more .

I may also have a bit of baby fever after holding my cousins new baby last week . I haven't told Hailey that though , but I think she may have felt the same when she saw me holding the little baby . But for now Cooper is our little baby , a messy and sometimes stinky baby .

Hailey's currently at the bakery, they have a huge order to fill for a delivery tomorrow morning. On top of a huge wedding cake the client asked for enough sweets to fill a dessert buffet at the last moment . Hailey has a hard time saying no to clients , especially if it's for a wedding .

She much rather over work herself than disappoint any client but especially a bride . Cooper and I are chilling on the lounge chairs in the backyard . It's a warm day today and after a swim in the pool with Coop we both decided to take a nap in the shade .

I had practice earlier this morning but I'm free the rest of the day to just relax here with my man coop . We have six games coming up here at home before we head off on a northeast / Canadian road trip for ten days . I hate long road trips ever since Hailey and I finally got together but it's part of the job and I'm very blessed to have a fiancé that's supportive and understanding of my career .

It's a few hours later and Hailey texted me to tell me she's on her way home . I decided to surprise her with dinner , I have one dish I have perfected that has quickly become her favorite. It's shrimp scampi with Angel hair pasta , i had picked up what I needed to make it earlier when I ran to the store to get the grocery shopping done .

Hailey usually picks up the groceries but with the long days at the bakery she's been having to do and on top of that she hasn't been feeling to good lately. I keep telling her she should go see a doctor and make sure it's nothing bad but she's stubborn. She thinks she just been sensitive to certain foods she's been eating lately and it's been causing her to throw up or feel nauseous .

I don't know but she isn't eating anything new lately , I think it's a mixture of stress and overworking . If she isn't feeling better in two weeks I'm kidnapping her and dragging her to a doctor . I'm not kidding either I'll throw her over my shoulder, hell maybe I'll just put a blindfold over her eyes and tell her I have a surprise . Only I'll be taking her to a doctor and not a romantic date .

Just as I was finished with making the dinner Hailey walks in , " oh my god is that scampi , I'm so hungry bubs". I smile at her as I walk over a greet her with a kiss , " I knew you probably didn't eat much with how busy you were so I made your favorite." We both sit down at the table and dig into our meal , I know Hailey must be tired so we don't talk much at all and just enjoy our meal .

After dinner we both head upstairs,
" how about I run you a bath and I sit on the floor with you and we can continue watching kitchen nightmares." She sighs dreamily " yes please , between the hours at the bakery and me not feeling too great I could use a calm night with you ."

I walk into the bathroom and turn the water on , one of the cool things about the bathtub here at the house , you can set it to a temperature and the bath maintains it . I also grab a bath bomb , Hailey loves bath bombs especially from the store Lush . One of the gifts I gave her for Christmas was a huge gift basket filled with her favorites .

I then grab a few of the lavender candles Hailey keeps in the bathroom closet and set them around the bathroom and tub . I light all of them and then turn the lights off for a more relaxing environment. Just as I finished Hailey walks into the bathroom only wearing the silk robe my mother bought her for Christmas .

" ok I'm ready start the show, I think we're at season ten , I love you matty thank you for all of this I feel really blessed to have such a thoughtful fiancé . Eek I still can't believe I get to call you that now ." Hailey says as she settles in the tub and I sit down on the beanbag I brought into the bathroom next to the tub .

" I love you too baby , I can't wait to marry you ." I turn the show on and Hailey and I end up watching two full episodes before we move from the bathroom and into our bedroom to lay in bed cuddled up and watch a few more episodes . Eventually coop makes his way into bed with us , he's a very cuddly puppy .

Of course he has those moments when he's all hyper but all puppies do . Coop all things considered is a very good puppy , he's had only one accident and that was after we first got home to Miami from the flight . He's very easy going very much just like wants to always be around one of us .

Whenever I'm not home , Hailey will usually bring him to the bakery he loves it there . He also behaves himself at the bakery , coop is also a big people person loves to just get pats from anybody . I'm really glad I adopted him , I had considered just showing Hailey the house then proposing but at the last moment I decided to adopt the dog she always wanted.

Life is so good right now . The team is gelling so well , we've been winning games and racking up points . I just got engaged to the love of my life . I got a a little yellow lab in my life now . Everything is just so great I'm not sure how it could get any better .
