AUTHOR'S P.O.V

Valerie gasped as she stepped into the room which was illuminated with candles. From the doorway, rose petals led to a king-sized bed with love cushions spread across the bed. Petals were delicately arranged into a large heart shape with Reed &Valerie arranged in the centre of the heart.

Valerie smiled, looking at Raquel's handiwork. ‘This is romantic', she thought.

She sighed, exhausted.

'Now which one is the bathroom?' she stared at the three doors aligned across the room. She shrugged and tried the first door and it revealed the bathroom.

She entered. The bath had already been prepared. She took off her clothes and stepped into the bath, sighing in relieve as she closed her eyes.

Few minutes later, she stood in the built-in closet, as she stared, amazed at the nightdress that hung in the otherwise empty wardrobe. It was a skimpy black dress with tiny red bows at the front which she found ridiculous considering her cleavage would be on full display if she wore it.

Where were her clothes?, She wondered. Abuelita had told her they'd been brought before the wedding but her wardrobe was empty except for the nightdress.

She hadn't walked into the wrong closet had she? Because her shoes and jewelry were here and she was sure because her name had been carved into the door before she'd entered.

It was as if Raquel had predicted she wouldn't wear the dress so she hid her clothes. She sighed in defeat as she reluctantly put on the dress that reached mid thigh.

She had no choice. She'd be naked otherwise. As if she didn't already feel naked wearing it.

She pursed her lips. Raquel must've planned this with Skye. She recalled the night before the wedding, Skye had told her she'd packed the perfect nightdress for her. She should've known.

As she made to walk out, she heard the bedroom door close. She retreated into the closet. Reed must've come in. She bit her lip nervously.

She couldn't go out wearing this skimpy thing! What if...She shook her head. No,.she was overthinking.

It was her wedding night. Abuelita had talked briefly about it and she was aware of what took place on the couples first night together but God knew she wasn't ready. How was she to tell Reed without embarrassment?

And now this dress? It was meant to seduce him! What if he initiated something? Was that why he'd kissed her like that in his study? To give her a heads-up on what's to come tonight?

The kiss.

Her fingers travelled to her lips as she touched them. She trembled slightly as she remembered the feel of his lips on hers. She wanted to feel his lips on hers again. She wanted him to kiss her.

'Stop it, Valerie. You're being a pervert.'

The sound of the bedroom door closing snapped her out of it. She stood still. No sound could be heard coming from the room. He was gone.

She breathed a sigh of relief and opened the door. She let out a quiet, startled gasp as she stared directly into silver-grey eyes that roamed her figure. Without much thought, she slammed the door shut.
