VALERIE
My heart raced. It was my first time on a jet and I felt anxious. I glanced at Reed. His eyes were closed and I didn't want to wake him just because I was being a chicken.I sighed and closed my my eyes, gripping the leather seat. A warm hand covered mine and I opened my eyes in surprise, tingles shooting up my arm.
I stared at his hand on mine and turned to look at him. His eyes were still closed but that didn't fool me. He had noticed my discomfort. I smiled and drifted off to sleep.
I opened my eyes slowly and turned to Reed. He wasn't in his seat. I panicked then calmed down when I realised he could be anywhere in the jet.
Food.
The aroma filled my senses and my stomach grumbled in hunger. I followed the scent and appeared into a kitchenette.
My eyes bulged at the scene in front of me. Reed cooks!
He stood behind a gas in his long sleeved shirt rolled up to his elbows and wearing a pink apron as he stirred something in a frying pan.
There was something about the scene that tugged at my heartstrings, that sent a warm feeling searing through me.
I stared, transfixed.
He look so incredibly hot with his usually styled hair tousled, a few strands stuck on his sweaty forehead.
I watched as he turned to the counter and began to arrange the food he'd prepared on a tray.
The scene appeared surreal. Reed didn't seem like the kind of guy to waste even a minute in the kitchen. There was a lot of things about him I didn't know. He was so mysterious.
“Come.”
I was pulled out of my trance as I continued to stand awkwardly in the doorway, wondering if he'd been addressing me.
He glanced at me and I blushed. He was talking to me. He always seemed to sense my presence. It was weird.
As I reached him, he turned to me quirking an eyebrow as if to ask, What is it?
I glanced away and blushed. He knew I'd been gawking at him.
“Are you hungry?”
I nodded. Yes, your cooking is making my mouth water and I can't wait to fill my stomach dear husband.
I'd come here partly out of curiosity to see who'd been cooking only to be awarded the sight of Reed cooking.
I smiled as I walked closer to view what he'd made. My mouth watered at the sight. He'd made rice with fruit salad, grilled chicken stew and there was chocolate cake for dessert. How he'd managed to cook these, amazed me.
I was a disaster in the kitchen. Once I'd almost chopped off a finger when I'd offered to help Dante in chopping an onion. Not that it was my fault. I was a crying mess because the stupid onion stung my eyes so bad I couldn't see.
I was finally banned from cooking when I accidentally set the kitchen on fire. Till date I still have no explanation for how that happened. Abuelita had been furious! As for Regina...
I looked at Reed and signed.
Looks delicious.
He smirked as he encircled my waist, drawing me closer to him. “What do I get as a reward?”
My heart skipped a beat as I pretended to think.
But I haven't even tasted yet. As far as I'm concerned it may taste as bad as broccoli.
