Just one minute was remaining for the clock to hit 12 am.

Sanskar was on his bed listening to some music with earphones on, aware of the fact that his birthday was going to begin soon. To be honest, he was not very excited about it because he knew it was going to be just like any other day where he would be working and half of his day would go in strolling here and there in the hospital. Even more so... the one he so earnestly wanted with him was not around, and there was not much meaning for him to celebrate when the one who would make everything very special for him was not there with him by his side.

Knowing that soon his mobile phone was going to start ringing with birthday wishes and messages from his friends and some close colleagues, he thought of staying awake for a little more so that he could thank all of them for acknowledging his existence at midnight.

As he delved himself into the last few lines of the soft music he was listening to, his phone started to ring. Vaguely aware that he had earphones plugged in, he winced because of the booming ringtone. But... the moment his eyes landed on the name of the caller, the pain was totally worth it! A smile made his way to his lips as he answered the call.

"Hello, Swara?"

"Happy birthday, my Love!" Swara wished him excitedly and sensing her contagious aura, he felt elated, too.

"Thank you so much, Swara! By the way, congrats! You are the first person who has wished me on my birthday."

"And I'm so proud about it!" she cheered while straightening herself up from her bed, "You know, I'm so so so so soooo thankful to God that they created you and sent you in this world twenty-seven years ago for me!"

He let out a joyful laugh as he was so ecstatic by her mood right now, "Much the same way I'm thankful to God for sending you for me."

"Oookkkay! So..." she pretended to think a little, "do you have any plans for tomorrow?" she asked just for the sake of it, knowing that his plans were already made by her.

He shrugged, "Nothing as of now. I mean, I don't think I have anything else with me right now apart from my work and taking care of my family," he said the truth that lowered Swara's smile by a fraction, realising their plight right now.

"Sanskar..."

"Tum bhi nahi ho na yaha pe, Swara," he sighed and decided to change the topic, "Anyways, I hope you are preparing well for your last exam that is day after tomorrow."

"Err... yes. That I am," she lied sheepishly. She remembered telling Sanskar that she had her last exam to prepare for on the day after tomorrow. Yes, it was just a bluff so that he didn't have any hope that she would be here on his birthday.

"Yaar to be very honest, I so badly wish you were here right now. But I know you are still left with that last exam of yours. Anyways, I don't think tomorrow will be any different from all the other days as I have same old things to do like everyday. So... I'm not really looking much forward to anything. As long as I have you, my family, my friends and God's blessings with me... trust me, nothing else matters," he smiled while shaking his head and Swara took a deep breath, trying to control her urge to give in and disclose the truth. But... she knew it was against her plans! She knew her unexpected presence tomorrow in front of him would blow him away, and she honestly wanted to see that happiness on his face and she would do anything for that. This was all for him!

"Swara? You are there?" Sanskar asked and she realised she was in a quiet mode for a while.

"Woh... umm... Sanskar," she thought about what to say to him that would sound less fishy to him as she knew that silence could give away a lot of things.
