"Good evening everyone, this is your pilot speaking. We are now landing in Los Angeles, California. The current local time is 9:45 at night, and the date is June 10th 2019-"

Andi's head snapped up at the sudden announcement, the loud voice shaking her from the dream that she had previously been immersed in. The little boy in the seat next to her gave her a funny look before his wide eyes focused on the view showcased by the window to her left.

Andi followed his gaze and looked out at the bright, colorful lights that made up the famous city of Los Angeles. She had seen countless videos and pictures online, but nothing compared to descending upon the fabulous place in person.

The little boy sitting next to her, whose name she had learned was David, gently tugged on her sleeve in anticipation.

"You want to see?" She asked with a smile as he clutched his green dinosaur stuffed animal with tiny hands.

David vigorously nodded and leaned forward over her arms, practically pressing his face against the window in awe. His breath fogged the glass and he giggled as his tiny finger drew a smiley face in the mist. The boy's mother, a thin, dark-haired woman smiled lovingly at the starstruck child before mouthing a quick 'thank you' to Andi.

The plane fully landed a few moments later, and, after getting the okay, each passenger began groggily standing to collect their carry-on bags. Andi removed her earbuds and checked to make sure that all of her belongings were situated in her decades-old, green Jansport backpack before standing to stretch.

David and his mother, Marsha, collected their belongings and shuffled into the aisle, Andi following close behind the pair. She had never flown on a plane before, and the idea of making her way through the giant LAX airport in an unfamiliar place at night was a little unsettling. It wasn't the city that intimidated her, seeing as though she had lived in Las Vegas for the past three years, but instead, she was terrified of getting lost in the vast airport. It was a silly fear, yes, but one she had always struggled with.

Andi exited the plane and looked around in awe at the large building, swarms of people bustling around her to go on with their busy schedules. There were signs everywhere stating the location of different terminals as well as restrooms. Lights flashed around her drawing the wandering people towards many food restaurants and shops. To say she was overwhelmed would be an understatement.

A small tap on her right shoulder pulled Andi out of her thoughts. Marsha was standing next to her, David's small hand clutched in her own, a kind smile gracing her lips.

"Is this your first time in LA?" She asked sweetly.

Wow, was it really that obvious?

"Yes ma'am," Andi hesitated, looking around at the signs above them. She was almost sure that she would get lost on her own. "Would you mind if I followed you guys to the baggage claim? If not it's totally okay-"

The woman held up a slender finger to shush the girl's rambling. "Of course sweetheart, maybe you can help make sure that this little one doesn't run off on me."

Andi let out a small laugh and let the woman lead her through the winding hallways to the baggage claim. Could this woman have kidnapped her at any moment? Absolutely. But for some reason, Andi felt a tug of safety in her heart while walking through the airport. She often found that her intuition was rarely wrong.

After a few minutes of walking down staircases and following the airport maps, the small group arrived at baggage claim C. Andi collected her two suitcases and small duffle bag and then moved to help Marsha collect her and David's luggage. After double-checking that the bags she had grabbed were really hers, Andi took a deep breath and turned to Marsha.
