Work that day felt slower than usual. You know that feeling on Christmas Eve that you would get as a kid when the day felt slow and you just couldn't wait for the morning? That was what Andi felt for those nine hours that she had to work in the store. When the clock hit 5:30 she told the staff that she would be gone on Monday and Tuesday and then rushed out, practically running to the parking lot. Colby was waiting for her by the back entrance and he looked up from his phone in shock when she jumped into the passenger seat.
"Holy shit, you're out early," He laughed, looking at the time. "It's only been three minutes since your shift ended."
"Today was so slow," She said, dragging out the 'o' on 'so'. "Plus, I got Wren to close for me so I got out on time for once."
"Yeah," He said, pulling out of the parking lot. "The day before the trip is always hell, but it'll go by fast now that you've got my priceless company."
"Someone's full of himself," She teased, laying her head back on the seat.
"Well," He joked back. "You do seem to bring out the best of me."
The car ride home was calm, music and idle chatter filling the car as they eased their way through rush hour traffic. They eventually made it back to the apartment complex and stopped at Sam's place first to see if he needed any help with the equipment.
Colby and Sam quickly took over packing up the various battery packs and chargers, and since Andi wasn't a total expert she stayed back, instead talking to Kat who would be watching their apartments while they were gone. Eventually, the boys were completely caught up in their own little paranormal world and the girls snuck off to Andi's apartment to pack.
"So how do they usually dress when they film?" Andi asked, sifting through her recently unpacked closet.
"Mostly casual," Kat said from her seat on the air mattress. "Just jeans and one of their merch lines, a button-up if they're going somewhere fancy but other than that just their normal clothes."
"Hmm, okay," Andi said, flipping through her clothes. Kat helped her piece together a few outfits and then packed them into her duffle bag and threw in one of Colby's borrowed hoodies just in case it got too cold. You never knew with Missouri weather.
Andi moved on to packing the other necessities that she had written down and Kat sat on her floor painting her nails a pretty purple color that matched her dark hair.
"So, are you scared to go on the trip?" Kat asked as Andi packed up her bathroom supplies. "I know the boys do this stuff all of the time, but I would still be scared if I went along with them."
"Not too much, no," She said, moving back over to the duffle bag. "I've been pretty connected to paranormal stuff my whole life, so it's not too nerve-wracking. There still is that little bit of fear that we have no idea what we're walking into though."
"Yeah, I totally get that," Kat nodded. "But Sam knows what he's doing when it comes to that stuff, and I know that Colby wouldn't let anything happen to you. Plus, Corey will probably tap out if it gets too scary."
Andi laughed at that last part and smiled at her friend. "I'm sure it'll also give you girls some peace of mind knowing that I'll be there to keep an eye on them."
"Oh definitely," Kat sighed. "They try to stay safe, but they're also boys. They do dumb stuff sometimes."
"Oh trust me, I know," Andi shook her head. "The other day Jake stapled his tongue just because he was bored."
Kat bursted out laughing and Andi joined, the two silent wheezing on the floor. After a few minutes, they calmed down and Kat watched as the blonde girl ran around the room mentally checking off the items that she had to pack.
