"Oh that's some horror movie shit," Corey whispered, his eyes fixated on the open doorway outlined in pitch-black shadows, cold air seeping from the dark room and straight into their bones.
"Go in," Colby whispered, nudging Andi further into the doorway.
"Oh hell no," The blonde girl shook her head, planting her hands firmly on either side of the doorway to stop him from pushing her into the dark room. "I didn't volunteer as tribute."
"Tell that to your middle school Katniss Everdeen cosplay," Jake smirked from behind them, his hands in his pockets to warm them as the chilly air flowed through the tunnels.
"Jake, buddy, nobody would find your body down here," Andi threatened, throwing a glare over her shoulder at him, though it held no real hostility.
"Bro my dick is going to freeze off if we stand here any longer," Corey piped up from the back, his teeth chattering a bit causing his words to come out jagged.
"Oh god danggit," Sam said, gently pushing past Colby and Jake as he passed the camera off to them and ducked under Andi's arm, entering the pitch-black room, his golden hair contrasting greatly with the shadows. "Hello?"
"Who the hell is he expecting to answer?" Corey laughed, shaking his head as Sam walked further into the room, disappearing amongst the shadows.
"He would definitely be the first to die in a horror movie," Andi said in disbelief, shaking her head as Colby nudged her arm out of the way and walked into the room behind Sam, not wanting to leave his friend alone in the sketchy ass place. "He's the stereotypical dumb blonde."
"Honeyyy," Colby called into the room, his eyes squinting as he pointed the camera light around. "I'm home."
"Hey baby," Sam echoed back, letting the blue-haired boy know where he was.
The other three shared a cautious glance before they all piled into the room, each trying to squeeze through the doorway at the same time so that they wouldn't be left alone in the creepy tunnel.
"Ladies first," Andi grunted, pushing Corey out of the way as she darted into the room after Colby.
"Rude as fuck of you to assume my gender," Corey huffed, reaching a hand out to shove the back of her shoulder as he followed into the dark room, his flashlight swiveling in his hand as the shadows crept around them. "It's 2019, Andi. Not cool of you."
"Eugh, dude," Jake said, his face screwed up as he walked further into the small office, his hands still buried deep in his pockets. "It smells like the inside of an old man's asshole in here."
"I'm so glad that you could point that out, Jake," Sam laughed from the other side of the room, shaking his head as he looked around the office.
"How would you know what that smells like?" Andi raised an eyebrow at the taller boy.
"He eats ass, brother," Corey chimed in. "And he likes 'em older."
"Dude," Colby said, his voice echoing in the cement-lined room as he turned up the camera flashlight, and the space was illuminated a bit more. "Why are these ceilings so damn low?"
With the camera light now illuminating the smaller room fairly well, Andi could finally get a good look at the place. It had the same cement walls as the rest of the tunnel system, the roof curved in a semicircle, though instead of sharing the packed dirt floors like before, the room had an old, yellowing tile that seemed to curl up in the corners. And sure enough, the ceiling was far lower than the rest of the tunnels, as if this room had been added on after the building of the rest of the place. The space seemed to be some type of old office, a large metal desk against one wall and a row of file cabinets against the opposite, dust coating every surface like an old friend, keeping the musty smell in the air company. The room looked fairly.... unused. As if it was only entered but once, and that was when the furniture was being put in. Hell, there were no sources of light anywhere. What the fuck was this place and why was it down here?
