An Overthinker

First Outing

"So, you never went out with your friends?" - asked Aditi.

"No. Not really." - Arjun said while moving his head.

"It's ok. Let's make this one your first and best one." - Raj.

"Sure. But where do we go first?" - Riya.

"There are a couple of places but....  Let's see.
How about we go and grab some lunch first?" - Aditi.

"Sure" - Arjun

Raj chuckles and says - "Always thinking about food."

"Ignore him" - Aditi says with a smirk.

 "Alright then. Restaurant first." - Riya

They decide to have their lunch peacefully but Raj doesn't let them. 

 "You've really got to hand it to short people... Because we usually can't reach it anyway." - Raj

Arjun tries to hold his laugh as he has food in his mouth. Riya takes a few seconds and then laughs after understanding the joke. 

Raj continues making fun of Aditi's height. Arjun gets all his jokes meanwhile Riya takes a while to understand them. Why is that? Simple. Bro code. Boys understand each other just with a glance. Well, I don't know if it's true in all cases but definitely in cases when we need it the most.
Aditi shoots Raj a death glare and Raj becomes silent.

Short girls can be cute, tiny, and adorable but they can be dangerous too.

Riya and Arjun laugh seeing them. They finish their lunch with a few more jokes and chatting. 
They share the bill.
Wow. Shared the bill. My parents give me fifty rupees with a hundred questions. So don't even think about money to go to a restaurant with friends.

Then, they head out to the next destination. AMB Mall. Their actual plan was to roam for some time, take some photos, then go to a movie, then roam again, and some more photos. However, it changed after looking at a new clothes store. It had a pretty nice title - Fashion and Tradition.


"These are so good." - Riya
"I know right." - Aditi

Here we go. Girls and their addiction to clothes. 
Aditi and Riya checked out the new store and the boys had to give them company. They had stylish and traditional clothes as well. Just as the name says. The girls try out almost every type of dress. The boys judge them. Of course, Arjun is trying not to get lost in Riya's thoughts again.
Then, my girl does it again.

Riya comes out with a pink top and blue jeans. She didn't expose her skin. Just a simple smile that blew a sudden wind toward Arjun. He didn't know what to say. She was looking really beautiful. Girls finish their shopping. Then they go to a movie. Of course, Raj makes fun of Adit's height again.

"We should get the seats either at the first row or the last. Cause Aditi won't be able to look at the big screen. And you know why?" - Raj

"Riya and Arjun hold their laughs after seeing Aditi's death glare. They go to the movie. Then during the interval, Girls go to the restroom. The boys go to bring some popcorn. 

"So, Are you two always like this?" - Arjun asks

"Like what?" - Raj

"You always make fun of her and she makes you silent with a death glare." - Arjun

"Oh. That. Yes. It's always like this. We have been together since kindergarten. So even our parents know each other and are pretty close." - Raj

"That really nice."  - Arjun

Raj - "Yeah. I know. We fight almost every day. But that idiot never left my side. A few years ago, my mom fell ill. It was serious. My neighbors helped me admit her to a hospital. My dad was out of town because of his work and I couldn't reach him. I was scared to shit. That's when she came. Aditi stayed beside me for hours. She made me eat. When I went to take a bath and change, she stayed at my place and watched my mom. She's the best person in my life I could ask for. We fight a lot. And sometimes those fights become serious. Mostly because of a third party." 

"Like Sameer." - Arjun

"Uhh.. Yeah like him. I never liked him anyway. But whenever we fight, instead of just fighting, we talk. She asks what my problem is and I tell her my problem. I don't hide my feelings with her. I always stay honest with her. That's how we solve shit." - Raj

Arjun feels warm in his heart. He remembers his time with Lily. How they used hangout and have fun. How they used to talk for hours without any topic. How they used to gossip about their classmates. 

"Let me give you a piece of advise. Don't stay in a friendzone forever. Confess your feelings." - Raj

"HUH" - Arjun

Arjun doesn't get him.

"Oh come on. I know you like RIya." - Raj

Arjun eyes widen. "How do you know?" - Arjun

"I have watched you look at her. Anyone can tell that after seeing you looking at her." - Raj

Man! Bro Code. Like seriously.

"Have you told this to Aditi?" - Arjun

"No. This has nothing to do with her, right?" - Raj

Arjun nods.

"Confess to her at a good time." - Raj

"Will she accept it?" - Arjun

"How am I supposed to know that? But I do know that if you confess now, you'll regret it a lot later. So, trust me and go for it." - Raj

Arjun stays silent for some time.

"The break is already over, you idiots. Let's go"  - Aditi

Arjun looks at Raj and then at Riya. Then they go back to the movie. But Arjun couldn't stop thinking about what Raj suggested. After the movies, They roamed a little more. They took photos. Arjun kept looking at her. Then they go back.

"Huff. It was a great day." - Aditi
"Hell, Yeah." - Riya
"Alright then, see you tomorrow guys. We are getting late already." - Raj
"Bye" - Aditi
They say their bye's. Raj gives a wink to Arjun and he understands it. Arjun and Riya start going back together. It was almost 9. So Arjun decides to walk Riya her home. 

"Thank you soo much, Arjun." - Riya says as they are standing in front of her house.

"You are welcome."  -Arjun

"Bye Arjun. Good night" - Riya

"Good night, Riya. See you tomorrow." - Arjun

Riya smiles and closes the door. Arjun walks back to his home thinking about everything that happened today. He smiles. He goes back and sleeps excited for the next day.

The next day 

Arjun was walking slowly to his college. 

"Arjun!" 
He heard someone shouting his name. He turned around to watch Riya waving her hand.
He smiled and waved back. She had a warm smile. They walk to college together. They met with Raj and Aditi near the college gate. They all sat at their places. The bell rang. But this time instead of their lecturer a student comes in. 

"Alright, everyone. Attention, please. I am Vijay. Your senior. So this coming Saturday we are holding a fresher's party. So, if anyone is interested in participating in cultural events like dancing and singing, please give me your names." 

Everyone was happy after hearing this. 

"Wanna do it?"  -Riya

"Obviously!"  -Aditi

Aditi and Riya gave their names for dancing. Riya tried to make Arjun and Raj give their names too. But they didn't as they suck at dancing. 

Everyone was excited about the Fresher's Party. 

"It's a good chance. Don't let it go." - Raj

"Good chance for what?"  - Arjun

"To propose Riya."  - Raj

Arjun thinks of this. After college, he goes to the hospital to check on Lily. This time, Lily's parents were with her. They had good news for Arjun. Lily was slowly starting to move her fingers and they thought it was because of Arjun. All the time Arjun spent with her. Everything he spoke. There's a good chance that Lily can get out this bed in a week. 

Everyone was happy. Arjun was too. But he's an overthinker. He thinks about Riya. He thinks Riya is a good luck charm for him. He was going to get his best friend back. 

Sometimes, Boys can be really emotional and sentimental. 

The Fresher's part is in less than a week. Everyone started their practice. Seniors started preparing everything for the party. Everything's going really well. 

And Finally, the day comes.

Aug 13th, Saturday.
The Fresher's party. 

Will Arjun propose Riya? If he will, What will be her reply? Will she accept or reject? Or will she say - "You are like my best friend, Arjun." #FRIENDZONE #BESTIEZONE
