Chapter 24: Old Flame

"Ohayou..."

Yankumi mumbled to Tetsu and Minuro who were busy preparing something in the kitchen. But they ignored her. She didn't notice this as she continued to walk towards the bathroom. She washed up then change to her usual school uniform – red tracksuit and a white t-shirt inside. She proceeded to the dining room and five familiar faces greeted her.

She was surprised and felt so much happiness. But one new face caught her attention. A face of a young and cute girl sitting beside someone she hasn't seen for how many years.

"Yo, Yankumi!" Noda greeted in his usual enthusiasm.

"Wha-Why are you all here?" she managed to ask.

"We came here to visit you, of course! And to bring you some good news!" Uchi replied and winked at Sawada Shin's direction.

Tetsu and Minuro brought them food and drinks. They were showing indifferent attitude towards their Ojou. And she immediately noticed that they were really acting strange today. She was about to ask them but her attention diverted to Minami.

"By the way, Yankumi! Have you met Akemi-chan?" Minami gestured his hands like he was presenting to the young girl sitting beside Sawada Shin.

Caught by surprised, Yankumi tried to hide it. "Ah, I'm Yamaguchi Kumiko, Yankumi as they call me. Nice to meet you, Akemi-chan."

Akemi-chan smiled her brightest. She isn't showing any negative emotion like being afraid and nervous even though she's in a Yakuza house. "Nice to meet you too, Yankumi-sensei. Shin has told me a lot about you."

Bewildered, Yankumi muttered. "Shin...?"

"Ahh... finally our dear friend brought himself a girlfriend!" Uchiyama commented. He looks like he was so proud of him.

Huh?

"Yeah, at last, Shin-chan has a girlfriend! I was shocked too when I first heard about it," Kuma stated. He was proud too and everyone gave their nods in agreement.

Shin? Girlfriend? Eh?

Yankumi's eyes widened and her jaw dropped as she heard what they said. She couldn't believe it. Sawada Shin, who had always been quiet and reserved, now had a girlfriend? It was like a plot twist in a movie she never saw coming.

She blinked rapidly, trying to process the information, a mix of surprise and confusion bubbling inside her. It was a moment she never thought she'd witness, and yet here it was, unfolding before her eyes.

"Oi, Yankumi! Are you still here?" Noda snaps his fingers. "Is the news about Shin's girlfriend made you think it's impossible?"

All of them was waiting for Yankumi to respond. Seems like she was lost to her thoughts. Her disbelief was palpable as she struggled to comprehend the news. She couldn't help but question it, her mind racing with a whirlwind of doubts and inquiries.

"Are you serious?" she blurted out; her voice tinged with incredulity. She needed confirmation, reassurance that what she was hearing wasn't some elaborate joke or misunderstanding.

HUH?!

They all looked puzzled and responded with confusion. It seemed like they didn't quite understand Yankumi's surprise or was caught off guard by her sudden question.

"Yankumi did you th –" Kuma tried to talk but his best friend interrupted him.

"Kuma, that's okay. I can handle this," Sawada Shin said. His friend understands what he meant so he gave him a slight nod.
