The snow-covered woods glowed with a magical white sheen, the moon and stars lighting up the frozen forest in a majestic and graceful manner. The sky was dark and clear, a few bright dots of light appearing here and there. The wind was crisp and cold, blowing softly throughout the winter wonderland, though it was enough to make the air shiver a bit.
Teresa sat quietly by her desk, her eyes fixed on the little glass tube at her hand. Her hands were careful with every movement, making sure she didn't accidentally knock something off her desk or accidentally tip something over.
It had been a while since she last worked in the science room, and she was finding the environment a bit familiar, yet unusual at the same time. The silence of the room was soothing, the small movements of her hands as she focused on her work being almost peaceful, despite the harshness of her current state of mind.
Thèrèse had been the one to ask the Safe Haven members for the science lab, knowing that the work they'd been doing in WCKD could benefit the Gladers a lot.
Without this lab, many things would have remained unknown, so Teresa and Thèrèse were thankful that the Safe Haven members had been so open-minded and supportive with her idea.
She knew her work here could bring so much good in the future, she just had to stay focused on her work in order to achieve it all.
Brenda walked into the science room, a large platter of mugs filled with steaming hot chocolate in her hands. The pleasant aroma of cinnamon and chocolate soon filled the room, and it instantly brought a smile to Teresa's face.
"I'm here to offer you some hot chocolate," Brenda said with a bright smile, the warmth of the drink already making her feel more comfortable inside.
Teresa glanced up from the experiment she was still working on, her eyes lit up when Brenda mentioned that Bea and Sonya had prepared the hot chocolate, it was a very welcoming gesture.
"Thank you..." Teresa said calmly, still in her focused and professional manner, as she took a mug of the hot chocolate from Brenda.
Brenda handed Teresa the mug, the hot chocolate being rather soothing now that she was finally able to drink it. It was just the thing she needed for the cold winter day they were having.
"So, how's your experiment going?" Brenda asked politely, her tone being gentle as she sat down next to Teresa.
"The experiment is going okay..." Teresa said thoughtfully, she was still quite focused on her work, but she didn't mind a bit of distraction now.
Teresa paused as she stirred her mug of hot chocolate briefly before continuing. "The results aren't quite what I hoped for yet, but I'm making some progress."
"Hmm..." Brenda hummed thoughtfully, she could tell the experiment wasn't going as well as Teresa had hoped for, despite the small progress she had mentioned.
