ғreya'ѕ pov
Rays of sun shined through the cracks of my hut, i tried pulling my blanket over my body, but it wouldn't move. I turned around, now face to face with thomas.
Out of shock i sit up straight. By my sudden movement thomas groaned and woke up.
"What are you till doing here!?" I scowled. "Shuckface. If the gladers see you leaving my hut, they are gonna think we did something" sighing annoyed, i stand up from my bed.
"Five more minutes.." Thomas mumbled into my pillow.
"Oh hell no, get out." I pulled the blanket off him. "You can get five more minutes in your hammock"
"You can get five more minutes in your hammock," I added sternly, crossing my arms as I watched him reluctantly sit up. He ruffled his hair and groaned again, rubbing his eyes.
"Alright, alright, I'm going," he muttered, standing and stretching. His clothes were wrinkled, and he looked exhausted. I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. It had been a rough night for everyone.
As he shuffled towards the door, I quickly added, "And be quiet. If anyone sees you—"
"I know, I know," he interrupted, giving me a tired smile. "I'll be a ghost."
He slipped out the door, and I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. The last thing we needed was for the other Gladers to get the wrong idea. I glanced around my hut, making sure everything was in order, before heading out myself.
The Glade was already bustling with activity. Minho was leading a group of Runners towards the Maze entrance, while Newt was directing the Builders. I caught his eye, and he gave me a nod.
***a few days later***
As I made my way to the Med-jack hut, I couldn't shake the feeling that today was going to be different. Something in the air felt off, like the calm before a storm. For some reason i wasn't able to pull my mind away from Thomas.
Inside the Med-jack hut, Clint and Jeff were already busy preparing supplies. I joined them, checking our stock of herbs and bandages.
"Anything new?" I asked, trying to keep my tone casual.
"Nothing major," Clint replied, glancing up. "Just the usual cuts and bruises. But we could use more willow bark for pain relief."
"I'll take care of it," I said, grabbing a basket and heading towards the forest edge. Gathering herbs was one of the few times I could clear my head and think.
As I knelt by a willow tree, carefully peeling the bark, my thoughts drifted back to Thomas. What was he really up to? Ever since he arrived, things had been changing, and I wasn't sure if it was for the better or worse.
Lost in thought, I didn't notice someone approaching until I heard a twig snap. I spun around, hand on my knife, only to see Thomas standing there, looking sheepish.
"Sorry," he said quietly. "Didn't mean to startle you."
"What do you mean?" I asked, furrowing my brow in confusion.
Thomas hesitated for a moment, his gaze shifting away before returning to meet mine. "I mean... I feel like there's something missing between us, Freya."
