Kiss of Life - Sade
A few months had passed, as expected Dearra and Klay were still going strong. Their relationship was still prospering and they were obsessed with each other. Life was great together and separately.
Dearra social media accounts were flourishing with support and content. She was consistent with the amount of content she created and posted. She was getting more promotional opportunities which allowed her to help support other companies.
Klay was recovering faster than any doctor could've predicted. His therapy was going well, and it was predicted that he would make a full recovery. Klay was back on the court practicing with the team, cautiously of course. Instead of playing in the games, Klay was more so brushing up on his techniques and coaching the newer players. He wouldn't be able to play this season, but he would definitely be on the court next season.
Speaking of the two, they both were in Dearra's bathroom getting ready for a night out. The warriors won their game last night, so it's only right the team wanted to go out and celebrate. Only this celebration came full circle. They were going back to Nobu, and we all know what happened last time this exact crew was at Nobu.
"You look pretty." Klay said as he eyed her slipping the dress on.
Everyone was excited for the night out, however Dearra had a cold and wasn't feeling the party scene, but she decided to go out since everyone else was.
"Thank you." She replied, as she looked at the dress clinging to her body in the mirror. They both did the final touches of their routine, and left the bathroom.
Dearra quickly took a swallow of the cold medicine, and hoped it would kick in by the time they were ready to go. Klay drove the two to the club, and he noticed Dearra was quieter, but he blamed it on the cold she randomly caught.
"You okay?" He asked her while lacing up her heels for her. She rested her head in her hands, "I'm fine, baby." She said back.
When he finished putting the heels on, she grabbed her purse out of the car and they entered the building. Of course they were instantly spotted, but Klay kindly declined any pictures tonight. He wasn't trying to be rude, he just wanted a night without cameras in their face. The two went public with their relationship, and the media still hasn't lived it down.
"Dearra!" Destiny yelled from the private section.
Dearra ran as quickly as she could to her best friend, "Bestie, I missed you." The two hadn't seen each other in weeks.
Dearra was constantly with Klay somewhere, and Dess was traveling with JP and the team to their games. The best friends were in very different stages of their lives, but they would always find their way back to each other.
"I missed you more, I can't believe we haven't hung out in fucking forever." Dess said, as she dragged a sick Dearra to the lounge area.
"I know, girl! We can't let that happen again. Where's Jayda, I thought she was coming?" Dearra said to her friend.
"Girl, If you take your phone of DND, you would know she can't make it." Dess replied, making Dearra laugh. Her phone was always on do not disturb and she never checked her notifications.
Dess sipped the brown liquid from her cup, "You want a drink?"
Dearra mentally gagged at the idea of drinking. She was always down for a shot of Don Julio, but the last thing you wanted while sick was some strong ass alcohol.
She put her hands up declining, "Imma pass tonight."
Dess looked at her with a surprised expression, "You don't want a shot of Don?"
"I'm good, I'm not feeling the whole drinking thing tonight." She explained.
Her best friend held an odd look, "You good, De?"
The loud music instantly gave her a headache and the amount of people in the club was aggravating. Dearra would much rather be at home, laying with Klay and Rocco while they watched some random movie they found.
"Everyone keeps asking me that, I promise I'm okay." She replied, while sipping from the glass of water. She looked around the club for her boyfriend, and when she found him with the other players she focused back on Destiny.
"Can we order food? I'm hungry though." Dearra asked, and of course Dess agreed, "Wings and fries?"
"That sounds so good." Dearra said, as she looked for the waiter so they could put their orders in. Just as they finished ordering, Ayesha came and sat with the girls.
The first thing Ayesha said to them was, "I need a drink." This made everyone laugh at her. That phrase was timeless.
"Damn, you just got in this bitch." Dess said through her laugh, "I know, but I need something. Steph irks my last nerve."
"What he do?"
Ayesha sighed, "The real question is what doesn't he do."
Dearra replied, "Girl, just ignore that man, and order your drink."
The girls all danced on the floor while sipping from their drinks. Dearra was trying to keep her composure, but she was hot and her headache only got worse as the DJ turned the music up. The smell of the wings they ordered earlier made her nauseous, so she was also running on an empty stomach.
She yelled to the girls over the music, "I have to use the restroom." They both heard her, and the three walked down the hallway towards the room. They entered into the only part of the building that was so brightly lit.
Dearra held the counter tightly, Ayesha and Destiny noticed this. They stood on both sides of her, "I think you need to go to the doctor, De." Ayesha said, she had noticed Dearra hadn't been feeling well all night.
"No, I'm alright. It's just a cold."
Dess spoke, "You haven't coughed or sneezed all night. This isn't a cold."
Just as Dearra went to speak, the sudden urge to throw up erupted from her body. She ran to the nearest stall, and released the content's of her stomach into the toilet. Dess and Ayesha followed, Dess pulled her hair into a ponytail while Ayesha passed her a paper towel.
"Feel better now?" Dess asked her, while they all washed their hands.
Dearra shook her head, "Kinda."
Ayesha and Dess gave Dearra a knowing look. However, Dearra didn't pick up on it.
Dess said, "So you've been sick lately, you can't even eat, you're throwing up, and you feel like shit-"
"You need a pregnancy test." Destiny and Ayesha said at the same time.
