My Love Mine All Mine - Mitski

The sky was painted in hues of blue as Dearra gazed out of her window, her thoughts drifting like the clouds. She was nine months pregnant, and every movement of her baby brought a mix of excitement and nervousness. Her belly swelled with life, a constant reminder of the miracle her and Klay created growing inside her.

Klay turned his guest bedroom into the room for their baby boy. As she sat in the rocking chair, gently cradling her belly, memories flooded her mind.

Dearra sat reflecting on her life the past three years and she couldn't have imagined this happening. She couldn't wait to meet her little one, to hold them close and whisper promises of love and protection. She only wished to spend her life doing motherly things, and spending an eternity with Klay.

Putting aside the anticipation, there was also fear. The unknown journey of childbirth followed her, a path filled with both pain and joy. Dearra had read countless books and listened to advice from friends and family, but nothing could fully prepare her for the moment when she would bring her child into the world.

Dess entered the room, a soft smile on her lips as he watched Dearra. She had been fighting with contractions all week, and the doctors kept sending her home, saying it was too early. The only thing Dearra wanted now was to get their baby out of her. She was in constant pain, but yet so scared of actually giving birth.

"The boys practice is almost over." Dess told her, but Dearra didn't verbally reply. She leaned over the chair as her contractions were too strong.

"This shit hurts, Dess." Dearra told her friend, and an expression of worry covered Dess's face.

Dess replied with a fearful tone, "Are you about to go into labor?"

Just as Dearra went to reply, a gush of water fell from below her. Dess screamed, "Bitch, did your water just break?"

"I'm scared and it hurts." Dearra cried out from the pains she felt.

Dess ran and got Dearra's shoes and the bag she packed for when she went into labor, "Okay, mama let's try to get up."

Dearra tried her best to stand up, as Dess supported her down the hallway. Dess multitasked while trying to call Klay.

Almost as if he knew something was wrong, he answered the call immediately, "Klay, I think Dearra's in labor. We're going to the emergency now."

She heard shuffling on the phone, "Pass the phone to Dearra."

Dearra took the phone from her best friend as they walked into the garage, "Mama, can you hear me?"

"Yes, baby." Dearra responded on the verge of tears.

Klay spoke with a calm tone, "I'm on the way to the hospital now. I know it hurts, but you got this. Just protect my baby, and I'll take care of you. I love you."
