When your Brother Falls in Love

AN: There will be a part 2. Also I hope someone gets the connection to the title of this chapter.

Jason's POV:

My brother and I have always been close, all the way through growing up together in Cleveland Heights and playing football at the University of Cincinnati together. Once we both made it to the NFL, it became harder to stay close when for half of the year we are both so busy with our personal lives and our individual teams. I watched as he grew into one hell of a tight end for the Chiefs, and building a legacy of his own in Kansas City, while I was building my own career in Philadelphia with the Eagles. 

In 2014, I met the love of my life, Kylie, and then in 2018 we got married, which added another layer to not spending as much time with my brother. Travis was dating Kayla for awhile and honestly, I thought he was going to propose to her, and then the next time I spoke with him he told me he broke it off with her. I started seeing Trav more when Kylie and I had our daughters and I got to watch him turn into the worlds best uncle. Wyatt, Ellie, and Bennie are obsessed with him and love spending time with their Uncle Trav. 

In 2022, Trav came to me with this idea of doing a podcast where we talk about football each week and analyze things going on in the league. I was skeptical at first, but now it has given me another passion I never even realized I had, and the best part is now Trav and I talk at a minimum once a week when we do the podcast. 

It was mid July 2023 when I noticed he was becoming more and more reserved and quiet during our weekly calls, which immediately sent up alarm bells. I tried to get him to tell me what was going on and he wouldn't budge so I ended up reaching out to Patrick Mahomes asking if he knew anything about what was going on and little did I know that would be the catalyst to Travis's love life. 

When Patrick Mahomes looped me in on the failed friendship bracelet incident at the Taylor Swift concert, I at first thought there was no way that this was the reason Travis was being so moody. But after careful consideration, Taylor has always been his celebrity crush for as long as I can remember. So being the obnoxious big brother I am, I brought it up to him the following day when we were doing a meeting on the next weeks shows content.

"Anybody have any other things we want to pre- plan for?" Intern Brandon says as we are wrapping up the call.

"I do. During the ad for Seat Geek, we are going to bring up Taylor Swift since Trav just went to the concert." I say watching his reaction. I see his eyes narrow at me and shake his head.

"I don't know if that's a good idea man. We don't need the swifties coming after us. They are one powerful group." He jokes. I drop it for a minute and once Brandon has hops off the call I fold my hands and look at Trav who is taking a drink of his accelerator. 

"So you wanna tell me the reason you have been so moody recently?" I ask him and watch as he chokes on his drink.

"I've not been moody Jason. Fuck off." He says glaring back at me.

"Well, if you won't tell me I will just assume what Pat told me is true." 

"What the hell did he say? Why were you talking to Pat?" 

"Fuck Trav, I'm worried about you! You have been off for the last couple of weeks. He mentioned you tried to give Taylor Swift a friendship bracelet and failed. I still am not sure of the big deal, but maybe talking about it on the pod will get it off your chest." I exclaim throwing my hands in the air. 

"I'm fine, I appreciate you being worried about me, but I was just butthurt. I'll think about talking about it, but I don't really see the point of talking about it on the pod, I tried to give her a bracelet, her security told me she doesn't meet anyone, I was rejected." He says with a small frown on his face. I can tell that this still bothers him, but he doesn't want to let on how much.
