One Last Time

AN: I saw all of your requests for another part of Tree's POV, and I will work on it. This one just kind of popped in my head and felt like you guys deserved it. I don't think this is how it went, but I think its a cute thought. 

Friday November 1st, 2024

Travis's POV:

Standing outside of Coach Reid's office, I take a deep breath to center myself and reminding myself this is just Big Red. 

"Kelce! You coming inside or just going to hover outside my door all day?" Coach Reid gruffs out from inside. I slip inside the door and see Coach sitting at his desk with film running on the tv of Tampa Bay and our last game on his iPad. 

"Hey Coach." I say before sliding into the chair across from his desk. He sits down the iPad and mutes the tv turning his attention to me.

"Whatcha need?" He says leaning back in his chair crossing his arms over his chest. 

"Sooo... With our game on Monday this week, how mad would you be if I leave the state tomorrow?" I ask giving him a sly grin. Technically, we do not need to ask permission to leave the state but I also know that if I don't give him a heads up, he will be pissed. 

"Where's Taylor this weekend?" He asks grinning at me. 

"Indianapolis, it's her last US stop and I want to go surprise her." He runs his hand over his mustache and nods once at me.

"Practice ends at 4pm tomorrow, and I expect you back in Kansas City by Sunday afternoon for walk through. Understand me?" 

"Thanks Big Red. Appreciate it! I'll bring you in an extra container of pop tarts next time Tay makes them!" I exclaim before leaving his office. 

Now that I have Coach's approval, I can start putting my surprise in action. Taylor has been in Indianapolis since Wednesday evening and while I know she is coming home to me after her show on Sunday, I want to see the show one more time. I most likely will miss most of it, but I should be able to still see the TTPD set onwards. As I am walking towards my car my phone pings with a photo from Taylor.

Taylor: Austin says he wishes you or Ross were here to entertain him LOL. Mom says hi and she can't wait to see your game on Monday. 

The text is accompanied with a photo of Austin sitting on the couch in Tay's dressing room wearing a Chiefs sweatshirt, Andrea next to him, and Tay messing with Austin's hair in her Eras robe. I laugh at the image and hit the dial button to call her as I slide into my car. 

"Hey babe." I hear as the call connects.

"Hey girl, how ya doing? Getting ready for the show?" I ask pulling my car out of the parking lot.

"Yeah. Gracie just hit the stage and they are already so loud! I can't believe this is the last US stop."

"I know baby, you've created this amazing tour and so many incredible memories. I am just so proud of you and your crew." 

"I wish you were here. I know I'll see you on Monday, but I already miss you." 

"I miss you more. I'm glad your mom and Austin are with you this stop and I can't wait to see them after the game on Monday." 

"They can't wait to see you kick Tampa Bay's butt. What? Oh, ok. Trav, I gotta go get my makeup done. I love you." 

"I love you too Tay. Good luck tonight." 

I end the call and as i'm pulling into my driveway I send a text to Drew and Tree in a group chat to set my plan in motion.

Trav: Hey guys. I am wanting to surprise Tay and come see the end of the show tomorrow. Any chance you can help me without letting her know?
