CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
Getting settled into East River didn't take much time. Mark had mentioned that everyone thirteen and older was responsible for doing some work which had been chosen for them. Trinity didn't mind lending a helping hand in the pantry, but she would have much rather preferred to be out with Yuta in the camp's little garden, or running around the forest with Jaehyun on security detail.
It was a strange feeling for the trio not to spend their whole day together, and it felt even weirder for Trinity to not spend time with her boyfriend.
Eliza was someone Trinity had become acquainted with at the pantry, and the two had been moving some pastries from the bakery into the small room when Sehun had requested to see the Purple in his office.
"I'm changing your work assignment," The Orange announced when they were in the confines of his workspace. Trin's brow furrowed and she tilted her head in confusion. "Why?" She asked, and he offered her a small smile.
"I can see how much you like working in the pantry, but you're gonna be working with me. That way we can learn more about each other's abilities."
He gestured for her to seat in the chair in front of him, and when she did, he turned his seat around so he was facing her fully. "Why are you so afraid of who you are? What happened?"
His question caught Trinity off guard, and she stared at him with her jaw hanging in shock.
'What was he talking about?', she wondered.
Unbeknownst to her, there was one thing Im Sehun liked to do, apparently, watch her.
He watched her interactions with people she wasn't familiar with. He noticed how she would often hesitate whenever they got too close. It was subtle—just a slight pullback when they reached out to touch her or a fleeting pause before she would touch them. She didn't seem to be aware of it, like it was an instinctive reflex, but he knew there was a reason behind it.
She averted her gaze to her hands that laid on her lap, and nervously fiddled with her fingers.
"I—I accidentally erased myself from my parents' memories when I was younger," she confessed.
"I didn't want them to worry about me. And so, I guess I just...I took away me."
Sehun's eyes sparkled in amazement, and he moved his chair closer to Trinity's, not that she noticed.
"You have a gift. Beyond mine," he laughed. "I don't know how to do what you've done, let alone reverse it. But we can learn about it...together."
