CHAPTER NINETEEN
"I liked you, Trin. I really did."
Sehun's voice dripped with a twisted sincerity, his smirk widening as he closed the distance between them. The coldness in his eyes made Trinity and Yuta instinctively take a step back, fully aware of what he was capable of. The air between them crackled with tension, but the blonde stood firm in front of his other friend, his expression resolute despite the creeping fear that the Slip Kid's presence brought.
Sehun took his time, each step deliberate, savoring the moment. "So believe me when I say I am broken up about this," he added, though the smile on his face betrayed any hint of remorse.
All eyes were on him as he finally stopped, mere inches from Jaehyun, who stared right through him. Sehun's gaze flickered over to Trinity, his expression hardening as he spoke. "I was trying to make the world a place where we didn't have to be afraid," he began, his tone low but insistent. "A place where those of us who are special-like you, like me-could be the ones in charge."
Sehun's smirk returned, crueler than before, as he jabbed a finger at Jaehyun, who hadn't moved an inch. "And you'd rather run around the woods with this guy?" he sneered, his voice dripping with disdain.
Jaehyun's jaw tightened, and the world seemed to hold its breath for a brief moment. Sehun's expression darkened, his disappointment detectable. He had laid out his vision, his offer, and they had rejected it-she had rejected him.
What happened next passed so fast that half of the people gathered theremust have missed it. The Slip Kid lunged at the Blue with a snarl and a breath later, he was on the ground and Sehun's fists were slamming into his face, each blow sharper and heavier than the last.
Yuta was the first to move.
His instincts screamed at him to protect Jaehyun, but he knew better. Sehun's men surrounded them, their faces expressionless, yet their presence a silent threat. One wrong move, one misstep, and it would be the end for all of them. His heart ached as he watched his best friend suffer, blood trickling from Jaehyun's nose and mouth, but he knew there was nothing he could do-nothing except keep Trinity safe.
He wrapped his arms around her, holding her back as she struggled to break free, her screams piercing the air. "Let me go! Yuta, please!" she cried, desperation lacing her voice. But he held on, tears welling in his eyes as he whispered, "I can't, Trin. I'm sorry."
Sehun's rage finally subsided, and he stepped back, panting slightly, his fists stained with Jaehyun's blood. He glanced at the captain, his eyes cold as ice.
"Take over," he ordered, his voice devoid of emotion. The captain didn't hesitate. As soon as Sehun released his hold on Jaehyun's mind, the official delivered a vicious kick to Jaehyun's stomach, the force of the blow doubling him over in pain.
