CHAPTER TWENTY
Time seemed to stretch endlessly as Trinity faced the Slip Kid, her eyes locked onto his. The world around them blurred, every sound muted except for the slow, deliberate sound of his footsteps as he approached.
Each step seemed to pulse with a quiet power, echoing through their stillness. The flames flickered wildly behind him, casting long, distorted shadows that twisted and danced on the ground, enhancing the threat he carried in his presence.
He moved with a calm, unsettling confidence, the firelight reflecting in his eyes and illuminating his unsettling smile - a smile that sent a chill down Trinity's spine. The heat from the flames began to press against her skin, and the smoky air filled her lungs with every breath. His aura felt almost tangible, an oppressive force growing stronger with every step he took toward her.
Trinity felt her heartbeat quicken, her palms slick with sweat. She knew this moment demanded every ounce of her focus and strength, a moment that could change everything in the blink of an eye.
Her eyes narrowed, her breath coming in steady, controlled bursts as she focused her energy. She felt the familiar tingle at the base of her spine, the rush of power building within her. Without warning, she thrust her hand forward, and a blast of invisible force shot through the air toward Sehun. The air rippled, shimmering with the intensity of her telekinesis.
She aimed straight for his chest, hoping to knock him off his feet and break his unnerving approach, but Sehun barely flinched. He moved his hand in a small, casual gesture, and Trinity's force seemed to slam against an invisible wall, scattering into nothingness.
She gritted her teeth, pushing harder, but it was like trying to punch through solid steel. Sehun's smile widened, his eyes gleaming with a mix of amusement and challenge. He was using nothing but the sheer force of his will, countering her telekinesis with a calm, effortless confidence.
Trinity's frustration grew, and she knew she had to change tactics. Her fingers flexed, and she felt the heat begin to build in her palms. The air around her shimmered as she tapped into her pyrokinesis.
Flames began to flicker at her fingertips, dancing wildly in the growing tension between them. She intended to turn the air between them into a furnace, to force him back or at least keep him from getting any closer.
But Sehun's smile faltered, his expression tightening as he sensed the shift. He knew that if those flames reached him, there would be no defense strong enough to keep him from getting scorched.
He quickly reached into his jacket pocket, subtly activating a small hidden device. A high-pitched noise, barely audible at first, began to fill the air - a piercing, relentless hum that seemed to drill into Trinity's skull.
Trinity gasped, her concentration breaking. Her flames flickered and sputtered, then disappeared entirely. The white noise grew louder, vibrating through her mind, disorienting her.
