CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Trinity ran past the office, down the path toward the cabins. Eventually, she came across an old side trail, overgrown and unforgiving to bare skin. She clawed at her shirt, trying to stop it from clinging to her skin. It smelled like him, and she wanted nothing more than to take it off.

She felt angry at how easily she had believed his lies, and disgusted at the way he had touched her and invaded her space. She had been so zoned out that she hadn't realized she had bumped into Jaehyun, and he had been calling out her name for the past two minutes.

"What are you doing here, Trin?" He asked, taking a careful step towards her, but his heart ached when she took one back. "Nothing," she replied, "I just want to be alone."

Her gaze remained on the ground as she tried to sidestep him, but her boyfriend was adamant in blocking her every path.

"Please," she cried, "Just go away!"

"I'm not going anywhere until you tell me what's going on!" He said.

He took a better look at her and it was then he realized that her eyes were red and her cheeks were coated in tears. Jaehyun carefully reached out his hand to place it on her cheek, but this time, Trinity didn't pull away.

Instead, she placed a trembling hand on the side of his face and closed the distance between them. Kissing him was the breath of fresh air she needed, and she let out a sigh of relief as his scent flooded her senses, his body relaxed under hers, and his hand slid down to her hips to draw her closer.

She was so wrapped up in him that she couldn't imagine pulling back or letting go of either or that moment. His touch was like a feather on her skin, and the instant their lips found each other again, a single thought was enough to break through the haze.

The memory of Sehun's face as he had leaned in to do exactly what her boyfriend was now doing flooded her mind, twisting its way through her mind until it felt like she was watching it unfold all over again.

But as the memory played out before her, a horrifying realization struck her—she wasn't the only one seeing it. Jaehyun was seeing it too.

It wasn't impossible, but the Purple just didn't know how it happened. She thought memories could only float to her, not from her.

She felt him grow still then pull back, and by the look on his face, she knew he had seen it.

Panic filled her chest, her breath hitching as she began to stutter, her hands flying up to cover her face in disbelief. "I—I'm sorry. I didn't—he—I couldn't—" The words tumbled out in a frantic rush, tangled in her fear and guilt.
