After 3 years

Alek's POV

Three years have passed since Asteria vanished from my life, leaving me with a void that refuses to be filled. Her ethereal voice and captivating beauty continue to haunt me, yet I've been unable to track her down. It's as if she disappeared into thin air.

My frustration and anger have been directed at Demetrius, my former best friend and current business rival. I hold him responsible for her disappearance. He confronted me at my penthouse the day after my fake engagement was announced, and I allowed him to vent his anger through physical blows. I deserved it. My actions drove Asteria away, and I've come to realize that my blind rage was the catalyst for her departure.

That fateful night, I was consumed by a desire to inflict pain, to make her feel the hurt I felt. But in doing so, I lost her forever. The fake engagement announcement was the final blow, a desperate attempt to salvage Sapphire's reputation after her scandalous affair with her bodyguard. I was a pawn in their game, forced to participate in a charade that ended after six months.

The memories of those fake dates, hugs, and photo ops still make my skin crawl. My mind was always with fantasies of my angel who flew away into the vast sky, leaving me with no direction, no hope. I'm still searching for her, but she remains elusive, a fleeting dream I fear I'll never grasp again.

Asteria's POV

As I stood in my Parisian apartment, surrounded by packed bags and fond memories, a wave of sadness washed over me. I had spent three incredible years in this enchanting city, rebuilding my life and discovering new passions.

I remembered the day I arrived in Paris, a lost and broken soul. But with the help of new friends, Jayden and Josh, I slowly began to heal. We explored the city together, laughing and joking, and I found solace in their company.

I also discovered a new passion for business marketing, and threw myself into my studies. For the last three years, I've been living with Leonardo if you remember him. Demi had initially been skeptical, but Leonardo's explanation of his search for his Belle and his promise to protect me like a sister had alleviated his concerns. He has been a guardian and friend, a constant source of support, encouraging me to pursue my dreams.

As I looked around my apartment, I remembered the countless nights spent exploring Montmartre, the Louvre, and the Seine. I remembered the charming cafes, the street performers, and the artists. Paris had become my home, and I was going to miss it dearly.

Now, as I prepared to leave, I felt a mix of emotions. I've grown to love Paris and the life I'd built here. Leo was making lunch for us before my 5 pm flight. As we sat down to eat, I thanked him sincerely for everything he'd done.

"Thanks, Leo," I said, taking a seat. "I wanted to thank you for everything you've done for me. You've been like a brother to me here in Paris."

Leonardo smiled, his eyes warm with affection. "You're like a sister to me, Asteria. I'm going to miss you so much when you're gone."

"I'll miss you too, Leo," I said, feeling a pang of sadness. "But I have to go home. I've been away for too long."

"You're really leaving, kid?" Leonardo asked, his voice tinged with sadness.

"I have to go home, Leo," I replied, my voice firm. "I've been away for too long."

"I know, but are you sure you're ready for this?" Leonardo pressed. "You've been through a lot, and I don't want you to get hurt again."

"I'll be fine, Leo," I said, trying to sound confident. "I've grown so much here. I've learned to let go of the past and focus on the future."

"That's my girl," Leonardo said, smiling. "But remember, the past has a way of catching up with you. You need to be prepared to face it head-on."

"I know, Leo," I said, taking a deep breath. "I'm ready. I think."

Leonardo looked at me skeptically. "You're not thinking about him, are you?"

I hesitated, unsure of how to respond. "Who?" I asked, feigning ignorance.

"Don't play dumb, kid," Leonardo said with a chuckle. "Aleksander. You still have feelings for him, don't you?"

I shrugged, unsure of how to answer. "I don't know, Leo. I don't want to think about it."

"Well, you need to think about it," Leonardo said, his voice serious. "You can't avoid him forever. He's going to be at your family's gatherings, and you need to be prepared to face him."

I nodded, knowing Leonardo was right. "I'll be fine, Leo. I promise."

After lunch, I helped Leonardo clean up, and then I was off to the airport. The flight to Athens was long, but I was excited to see my family and best friend. I had a surprise planned for them, and only Rita Aunty knew I was coming home.

When I arrived at the departure, a bodyguard was waiting for me with a big board saying "Welcome Home." I laughed at the sight because the bodyguard was looking rather uncomfortable holding that board. Rita Aunty had arranged for him to pick me up, and I was grateful for her thoughtfulness.

The drive to the Petropoulos mansion took about 40 minutes, and I couldn't wait to see my family. When we arrived, Rita Aunty opened the door, and I hugged her tightly, tears welling up in my eyes.

"I'm so happy you're back home, my child," she said, kissing my forehead.

I asked her where Papa and Demi were, and she told me they were having dinner with the Angelos family. I didn't think much of it and went straight to the dining room.

But when I entered, I was taken aback. Not only were Papa and Demi there, but also Mr. and Mrs. Angelos and their children. And then I saw him - Aleksander. Our eyes met, and I felt my heart race.

Shit! I thought to myself. I wasn't prepared for this.
