to be able to tell people that on the way down she was ready to kick death right in the face. But she wouldn't be able to because she'd be a damn liar. The only thing she could think to do was  nohold on to Percy as tightly as she could and scream.

"HOLY MOTHER OF JESUS! WHY DID YOU DO THAT?" She yelled over the sound of wind and blood rushing in her ears.

"IT SEEMED BETTER THAN GETTING MUTILATED!" Percy yelled back. He could barely see the skyscrapers and bridges through Cam's hair on the way down.

Next thing they knew: Flaaa-booom!

White bubbles filled their vision
as they drifted further into the Mississippi. Cam realized that they somehow didn't become pancakes when they hit the water. Well, it wasn't that much of a mystery. Maybe it's a good thing she fell in with the son of Poseidon.

And yet she still found it strange that she was totally dry. When Percy finally found the courage to pull away, he held her by the arms with a confused look. Cam gave him a look that basically told him, 'Use your damn brain' but she also realized he wasn't holding his breath. In fact, he was breathing.

Unfortunately, she still couldn't.

Cam covered her mouth, really not wanting to accidentally drink water from the Mississippi at a desperate attempt for air. Thankfully, Percy noticed this and wrapped an arm around her waist as they kicked up.

As they broke through the surface, Cam let out a gasp before coughing from the burning feeling from her lungs. She let herself fall from Percy's grip onto her hands and knees, steadying her breathing as her vision straightened out again.

"Oh god, are you okay?" Percy asked, still shaking from their near death experience.

"Yeah. Just... I need to catch my breath," She replied shakily. Percy turned back towards the water before looking back at her.

"C'mon," he told her, helping her towards the railing and onto a stone path. "I'm gonna go back down. Just stay here. Okay?"

"What? You're leaving?" Cam asked, clearly not wanting to be alone.

"I'll be right back, I promise. Here." Percy put Illusion back into Cam's hand, who quickly put it back into her bag. Which had also remained dry, thanks to Percy. The boy dove back into the water, and Cam looked over at the crowd and emergency vehicles about a block away.

When Percy finally came back, he was still dry, and Cam helped him up onto the path and sat next to her. The redhead laid her head on Percy's shoulder with a shuddering breath.
