I staggered into the camp, my head throbbing. I didn't realize how much strength it took for me to resurrect Todd.
He fell to the ground and died shortly after the infected bit him. They hissed, and I made them go away. They limped toward the broken fence and left.
I crouched down next to him. "Alright, Todd. I know you can't hear me, but you're about to be alive again."
I closed my eyes and pressed my hand against his forehead. I channeled my inner energy into his brain, and I felt it restart.
I felt drained after that, but I stepped back as Todd slowly got to his feet. He stretched out his arms to examine them. His skin was now pale gray, and the whites of his eyes were black orbs. His pupils and irises became white lights.
"Wow." He looked at me. "You really did it. The pain is... gone."
I nodded and smiled at him. "Don't mention it. Now, you need to let your sister that you're still alive, like you promised her."
"Okay." He took a deep breath. "Thank you."
"It's fine. I suggest that you stay away from them for a bit; might reduce the shock."
He backed away. "Bye." Then he turned around, and limped into the bushes.
As soon as he was gone, I winced. My arms were beginning to hurt.
I opened my wings and headed back towards the island, the pain in my arms getting worse and worse the further I progressed. Eventually, I crash landed on to the ocean shore and crawled my way through the forest.
I found myself have the strength to stand up, even though my legs were shaking.
I had to find Riley. I had no idea where she was, but I was determined to find her.
The dens were blurry as I limped even farther into the camp.
As my luck would have it, Sam was hanging around. When she saw me, she gasped.
She rushed up to me. "Are you okay?"
I couldn't lie to her. "No. Do I look okay?"
"No." She looked around. "Revived?"
I nodded. "Forgot how much it hurts. Where's Riley?"
"She's at the beach," she said. Her eyes were filled with concern. "Are you sure you can make the trip?"
"Yes. I have to; if I collapse, you know where to find me."
She hesitated, but when I looked at her she nodded. "Fine. But I'll be nearby. If you fall, just yell."
I thanked her and continued until I was into the forest. I saw the beach ahead.
My head throbbed even harder. I was beginning to think that I had a migraine.
Riley was standing at the edge of the sand, wearing gray pants and a white t-shirt. Her back was turned to me, and her long black hair was waving in the wind.
I limped forward. When she heard me coming, she tilted her head. "Carlos."
"Don't," I said. I waited for a bit for my head to stop throbbing. "I... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have reacted that way- and I definitely shouldn't have fought you. You were in a bad mood, and it was my mistake to mess with that."
"I'm sorry too," she said softly. "You were doing something that helpd you be less stressed. I should've known that; and I shouldn't have hurt you."
I smiled at her. "Are we still friends?"
She smiled back. "Best friends. Of course we are."
We hugged. It felt so good to be back on good terms again with her.
