(Warning: swearing)

Robin's POV:

Nancy and I are in the library basement, trying to search for any clues about the whole Victor Creel story that might have any mentions of this "Vecna." I know Nancy had spoken to Eddie's uncle the day before and he told her about Victor. At this point, she seemed pretty determined to find at least anything useful, and I did not wanna let her down.

While I was looking through some of the old archives, I found something that could definitely help us. I read the headline out loud, and of course, Nancy thought I was joking. But I was about to blow her mind.

Me: "I'm not kidding. Get over here."

I hear Nancy come up right beside me to look at the archive.

Me: "'According to several insiders, Victor claimed his house was haunted by a demon. Victor allegedly hired a priest to exorcise the demon from his house.' Pretty novel for the 50s, Exorcist wasn't even out yet."

Nancy: "Keep going."

I tap a button to make the archive move on the microfiche.

Me: "Okay, so Victor claimed this exorcism failed, but it angered this demon, which then killed his family, removing both their eyes. Victor believed he was spared as a punishment."

Nancy: "Seems pretty convenient for Victor."

Me: "Yeah, or super inconvenient."

Nancy's POV:

I couldn't believe Robin was figuring all of this stuff out. At first, she seemed kind of annoying because she kept talking a lot earlier about social cues or whatever, and she kept making sure that what she was saying wasn't in a bad way or anything. Honestly, I didn't mind any of it.

I was just really determined to find more about the whole story about Victor, and I guess I let it all go to my head. But right now, I'm happy that something was found.

Robin: "Victor was declared legally insane by the court, right? But what if this is why? I know it sounds really crazy, it just didn't go public because-"

Me: "The plea bargain. The records were sealed."

Robin: "What if a demon did invade Victor's home? It's just, this demon wasn't any old demon."

Me: "It was Vecna."

Robin nods.

Me: "We gotta tell the others."

Robin and I head upstairs and I give the librarian back the basement archives keys. As the both of us head out the front doors, Robin gets on the walkie.

Robin: "Dustin, do you copy?"

Dustin: *over radio* "Yeah, I copy."

Robin: "Okay, so Nancy is a genius. Vecna's first victim dates all the way back to 1959. Her shot in the dark was a bullseye."

Wait, what? Robin's giving me the credit for something she found? Huh, that's nice of her.

Dustin: *over radio* "Wow, that's pretty bonkers, but I can't really talk right now."

Robin: "What are you doing?"

Dustin: *over radio* "Breaking and entering into school to receive some confidential and extremely personal files."

Robin: "Sorry, could you repeat that?"

Dustin: *over radio* "Just get your ass over here, stat! We'll explain everything."

Me: "I thought they were seeing Ms. Kelley."

Robin: "We leave them alone for two hours."

Robin and I get in the car and start driving. As we're driving, I try to start a conversation.

Me: "Hey, uh...thanks, by the way."

Robin: "For what?"

Me: "For giving me the credit for something that you found."

Robin: "Oh. Well, I mean, it was your idea to go to the library."

Me: "Yeah, I know, but...it was kind of sweet of you to do that."

Robin: "Aw, well, thank you for saying that."

Me: "There's something else, too. I just wanna say I'm sorry if I might've been a little mean to you earlier."

Robin: "No, no, you don't have to apologize for that. I mean, I know I tend to ramble a lot at times."

Me: "Which isn't bad at all, but... the thing is, during last summer, I had a job where I was working as a journalist for this one place, and uh...the people I worked with were...not great, and... I guess I was just so determined to find out more about Victor this time that... I was kind of driven by those horrible memories, and it led to me unintentionally trying to push you away."

Robin is silent for a bit, then starts again.

Robin: "Were they really mean to you?"

Me: "Worse than that, they were... a bit sexist."

Robin's eyes widened by what I said.

Robin: "Oh, my god, Nance, that's horrible."

I was a bit surprised by that nickname.

Me: "'Nance?' I like that."

Robin: "Oh... well, that's good."

Me: "Yeah, and yeah, it was a nightmare having to work with them. But then, they became part of the flayed, and of course, we killed that spider monster, so they're history now."

Robin: "Thank fuck for that. No one should ever disrespect you, you are the smartest person I know."

Suddenly, I felt my face get a little hot. I think Robin noticed.

Robin: "You alright, Nance?"

Me: "Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm good. I, uh... guess I just didn't expect you to call me smart."

Robin: "It's true, though, and who cares about those sexist sons-of-bitches and all the shit they put you through? You always find a way to keep going, and I love that about you."

At that, we arrived at the school.

Me: "Hey, um... could we maybe continue this conversation later?"

Robin: "Oh, yeah, of course."

Robin and I got out of the car and entered the school.
