(Warning: swearing)
Robin's POV:
We've been walking through the woods all day, having a few close calls with the police since they're still looking for Eddie. I am not exaggerating when I say that I was about to pass out at any point, hoping that somehow, Nancy would catch me. Eventually, Dustin finds something...
Dustin: *to himself* "Something's happening."
Eddie: "Dustin, can you slow down? Dustin!"
Dustin: "I think we're getting close."
Eddie quickly grabs Dustin before something bad happened.
Eddie: "Watch your step, big guy."
We all catch up to them and look at where we ended up.
Steve: "Oh, man... you got to be shitting me."
Eddie: "Yeah, I thought these woods were familiar."
Me: "It's Lovers' Lake."
Dustin: "This is... confounding."
Max: "There's a gate in Lovers' Lake?"
Nancy: "Whenever the Demogorgon attacked, it always left an opening. Maybe Vecna's the same way."
There's her voice again. I just can't get enough of it. It makes me feel... good.
Steve: "Yeah, only one way to find out."
Eddie uncovers a boat that he was using the night before. He and Steve set it down into the lake. I gently held on to their heads and carefully stepped out onto the boat, not wanting to slip and fall from the muddy shoreline. Nancy follows in, making my heart beat a little faster.
Without realizing, I reach my hand out for her to take. She smiles and holds on to it, and I think both of us were slightly blushing at the contact. Her hands felt so... soft and warm to the touch. I slowly led her into the boat, then Dustin tried to get in, but Eddie stopped him.
Eddie: "Hey, hey, hey, you trying to sink us? This thing holds three people; tops."
Nancy stands up and walks over to Dustin.
Nancy: "It's better this way. Stay here with Max, keep an eye out for any trouble."
Dustin: "YOU keep an eye out!"
Nancy gives him a confused look, and he mocks it with more confusion.
Dustin: "It's MY goddamn theory."
I didn't wanna let this go on, so I tried to put a stop to it.
Me: "You heard Nance."
Nancy's POV:
As soon as I heard Robin call me that again, I felt warm inside again. I don't know what it is, but... it just feels so sweet to hear her say it.
Dustin: "Who put her in charge?"
Robin: "I did."
I giggled a little at that, on the inside.
Me: "Compass."
I reach out my hand. Dustin knows he's not gonna win, so he just takes out his compass and hands it to me. I make my way back over to Robin and sit next to her.
Steve: "Hey..."
Steve throws Dustin his bag, and he catches it, while not expecting it. Steve them pushes us out to the lake, and he gets in as well.
Dustin: "You said three!"
Steve: *whispers* "Sorry..."
As we're heading further out, Robin stands up and calls out to Dustin, Lucas and Max.
Robin: "Bedtime at 9, kiddos!"
I giggle at her remark. I see Dustin give her the finger, but she's not offended. Instead, she makes another remark to them.
Robin: "Miss you already!"
I swear, if it was just the two of us on this boat, I would tell her how I feel about her, and I'd probably kiss her, but unfortunately, it wasn't just the two of us. As we were heading out to find the gate, I couldn't keep my eyes off Robin. There was barely moonlight, but she looked beautiful under it.
Suddenly, the compass needle started moving more and more. That's when I knew we were nearing the gate's location. Robin and Eddie slowed the boat down with the ores, and when they saw that we were close, Steve started taking off his shirt.
Me: "Steve, what are you doing?"
Steve: "Well, somebody's gotta go down there and check this thing out. Unless one of you three can top being a Hawkins High Swim Co-Captain and a certified lifeguard for three years, then it's gotta be me. No complaints, right?"
Eddie: "Hey, I'm not complaining. I do not wanna go down there."
About a minute later
Robin's POV:
Steve comes up from the bottom of the lake and told us he found the gate. Suddenly, he's pulled back down by something. The rest of us panic. Nancy is about to go down there, but Eddie and I tried to stop her.
Nancy: "Just... wait here."
Me: "No, no, no, Nancy!"
She dives down into the lake. I started to panic more. If something bad were to happen to her, I don't know what I would do. I'm about to dive in after her, but Eddie tries to stop me.
Eddie: "What are you doing? She said wait."
Me: "Yeah, I heard her."
Eddie: "SHE'S in charge!"
Me: "Are you kidding me? I made that shit up."
I only want Nancy to be in charge of me. Not to make that sound weird, or anything like that. I make my way down into the lake, and I see Nancy up ahead. I swim down after her, and I look up and see Eddie finally joining us. Once we all went through the gate, we saw Steve getting attacked by weird-looking bats.
One by one, we grabbed the ores from the Upside Down version of the boat, and we start to beat the creatures away, saving Steve. One bat landed on Nancy, who started screaming. I wasted no time trying to pry the bat off her. When I do, I smash it to the ground. Once they're gone, I look around and see that the Upside Down is a creepy version of our Hawkins.
Suddenly, something completely unexpected happens: Nancy gives me a hug. It completely took me by surprise, so I tensed up a little. A few seconds later, I relaxed and wrapped my arms around Nancy's small and adorable frame, melting into the warm embrace.
Nancy's POV:
I was so thankful that Robin saved me from getting mauled by a demo-bat that I suddenly hugged her. I didn't expect it, and I could tell she didn't expect it, either, because she tensed up a bit, eventually relaxing into the hug. I felt her wrapping her arms around me and pulling me in closer.
I couldn't help myself. Despite being soaked from the lake, she was warm to the touch. I wanted to stay in the hug forever, take in every single bit of the warm feeling, but once we heard more screeching, we pulled away.
