(Warning: swearing)
Robin's POV:
It was pretty late at night, between 8:30 and 9. I was sitting at a bar, having a drink or two. I don't really know how or why, but something told me to come here tonight. Maybe I was feeling a little stressed about something, or maybe I would see someone I knew here.
Suddenly, I looked up and saw someone walking out the door in what looked to be an angry/hurt manner. Then, I see Steve trying to catch up to her to stop her.
Steve: "Nancy, wait! Come on, don't leave!"
When he realized he couldn't stop her, he closed the front door in defeat. He turned around and was surprised to see me here, as I was with him.
Steve: "Oh...hey, Robin. I, uh, didn't expect to see you here."
Me: "Yeah, same here with you, but what just happened there?"
Steve: "Uh, well...Nancy and I came here just to have a drink, but some asshole came up to us and he started giving us the business."
Me: "What did he do?"
Steve: "Well, I'm pretty sure he was drunk, but he started calling us names, and you'll never believe this, but he started hitting on Nancy."
Me: "Wow, he does sound like an asshole."
Steve: "That's not the worst part. He even tried to make out with her, but before I could stop him, Nancy punched him to the ground and that led to her running out of this place."
Me: "Oh...uh, did she say where she was going?"
Steve: "No, but I'm assuming she went back home. Why?"
Me: "I should probably check on her."
Steve: "She might need a little time to herself, so I say we give that to her."
Me: *sighs* "You're right."
For the next few minutes, Steve and I decided to have a drink together, but we knew not to go overboard. Afterwards, we paid for our drinks, and we left. Steve was getting a bit tired, so he decided to go back to his house for the night, and he wanted me to tell him the next day how Nancy was feeling.
Speaking of Nancy, I was really starting to worry about her. On my way to ger house, I couldn't stop thinking about what she was probably feeling right now. I hope she's okay, I really do.
When I pulled up to the Wheelers' driveway, I decided to take a mint before going inside. I know they probably won't care that I have alcohol on my breath, but still. Anyway, when I got to the door, I knocked almost too eagerly. Then, Mrs. Wheeler came and opened the door, and she looked happy to see me.
Mrs. Wheeler: "Oh, hi, Robin. What brings you here?"
Me: "Hi, Mrs. Wheeler, um...is Nancy here?"
Mrs. Wheeler: "Oh, yeah, she's here. She's actually up in her room, and...she looked pretty upset when she came through, and she wouldn't stop to talk. She just went straight upstairs."
I was even more worried now.
Me: "Oh, uh...I think I might know why."
Mrs. Wheeler: "Oh...well, come on in."
Me: "Thank you."
I walked into the house as Mrs. Wheeler closed the door behind me. I wanted to tell her what happened, but for some reason, I was more worried about Nancy than how much her mom was worried. I told Mrs. Wheeler I'd explain later, and she seemed okay with that.
I slowly went upstairs and made sure I didn't wake anyone else up. When I got to Nancy's room, her door was shut. I put my ear up to it, but I couldn't really hear anything. I knocked a little to see if I would get a response.
Me: "Nancy? You in there? It's me, Robin. I came by to see if everything was okay."
Then I heard something else. It sounded like Nancy was...crying. This was making me even more worried, so I slowly opened the door to see. I didn't turn on her light because I knew that would be too much. When I got to her bed, I did turn on the lamp that next to it. I sat down on her bed while she sat up a bit and wiped her tears away.
Nancy: "What are you doing here?"
Me: "I heard about what happened at the bar. Steve told me everything."
Nancy's eyes widened a little.
Nancy: "Oh...you did?"
Me: "Yeah, and believe me, I'm really sorry you had to deal with all that. That guy had no right to do what he did to you."
Nancy: "Well...thanks, Robin. You're right. I don't know what was wrong with that guy, but he really went too far."
While she was talking, I was as focused as possible on her. I don't know if it was her lamp or what, but...she looks really pretty right now. When she was done talking, I expressed my sympathy as much as possible.
Me: "Well, I...guess I should let you get your sleep, right?"
As I turned to leave, Nancy gently grabbed my arm with her hand.
Nancy: "Wait...don't leave."
I sat back down on the bed.
Nancy: "Could you, maybe...stay here tonight?"
Me: "Oh, yeah, of course."
I took my shoes off and got into the bed next to her. I asked her if she wanted the lamp on or off, and she said off, so that's what I did. There was still a bit of light coming through the window so Nancy and I could still see each other.
I pulled the covers up, and once I was settled in, I heard Nancy start crying again. I looked over to her and pulled her close to me. I wrapped my arms around her as she softly cries on me. I don't even care that my shirt might get wet, I just really want to be here with Nancy.
When we pull away, I softly assure her that things will be alright, and that I'm here if she ever needed me. She nods in agreement and I kissed her forehead, which made her smile a bit.
Nancy snuggles up close to me and I wrap my arms around her. We both smile and stare at each other for a brief moment before we became drowsy, and just like that, we were both asleep.
