It's gonna be okay.

I was a kid, probably 7, a woman was on her knees hugging me, crying.

"I love you, you're always gonna be my special little girl, okay?" she brushed the hair out of my face.
"Ma'am times up." the soldier said.
"Give me a few more seconds, please." she begged, her eyes not leaving mine.
The soldier sighed, and signaled the others.
They pulled her off as she thrashed and kicked.
"I never wanted this! give me back my baby!"
"Mommy!" i yelled, as one of the men led me away.

Gunshot.

"You're WCKD's property now kid."

As I was led away, my heart pounded in my chest, tears streaming down my face. I couldn't comprehend what was happening. The woman, who I assumed was my mother, was now gone, taken away by force. I was alone, surrounded by strangers in a place I didn't recognize.

The men brought me to a facility that looked cold and sterile. They told me I was now a part of WCKD. I was placed in a room with other children, all looking just as scared and confused as I was.

"Mei" i was assigned to a room, it looked like a lab.
"I told you i dont want to do this! It's wrong. i never wante-" one of the scientists was arguing with one of the guards. "Ahem." a man behind me coughed, making them look at us. He gave them a threatening look as he put a hand on my shoulder.

The man's touch startled me, and I flinched away instinctively. "I know this is hard, Mei," he said, his voice surprisingly gentle.
"But you children have a gift, a special ability that can help us find a cure. You're important to us, to everyone out there who's suffering. Please, cooperate." I looked away.

He sighed, "Check her, I want everyone as healthy as possible. They need to be strong to endure the trials." he signalled the guard who was arguing with the scientist to follow him, and he did.

The scientist looked tired, almost as he hadnt slept in days, yet he still gave the effort to smile at me.
"Mei, was it?" he asked, "Could you sit here so I can check you for any injuries?" I didnt say anything but followed his orders,

The scientist collected blood vials from me, combining it with a blue liquid, he put a drop the mixture underneath the microscope.

Suddenly he jolted up knocking his chair back, "Impossible." he whispered, his demeanor changed. His eyes widened, and a flicker of realization crossed his face. He quickly masked it with a smile, but I noticed.

"Mei, you're special," he said softly, almost conspiratorially. "You have something that could change everything. But we have to keep it a secret, understand? WCKD can't know." he quickly threw the mixture away, shuffling the papers on his desk,
