(A/n: losing motivation to continue lowk...)
"What are you guys talking about?" I interrupted holding a tray full of food,
"Nothing," they said in unison, they all scooted over, making room for me.
All of them stared anticipating who I'd choose to sit beside."You guys are acting weird.." I decided to sit beside, of course, Chuck.
As I sat down beside Chuck, I couldn't help but notice the disappointed looks on Minho, Newt, and Thomas's faces. Chuck grinned, nudging me playfully.
"What's up with them?" I whispered to Chuck, gesturing toward the trio who were now engrossed in their own conversation.
Chuck shrugged. "They're trying to see who you like more." He glanced over at them, then back at me, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "What were you and Minho doing in his hut by the way.."
I looked at him with embarrassment, trying to ignore the awkward tension. "It was nothing Chuck.. we were just talking. But, they better get over it," I muttered, poking at my food.
"I'm not interested in those shuck-faces."Chuck chuckled, leaning in closer. "Yeah, but it's kinda fun watching them squirm, isn't it?"
I smirked, feeling a little mischievous myself. "Maybe a little," I admitted, glancing over at the trio again. They were still deep in conversation, occasionally stealing glances in our direction.
After a moment, Chuck nudged me again. "So, who's your favorite out of those three?"
I laughed, shaking my head. "Oh, I don't know. They're all... interesting in their own ways."
Chuck raised an eyebrow, a knowing look in his eyes. "Interesting, huh? Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see who wins you over."
I groaned, feeling a blush creeping up my cheeks. "Ugh, whatever Chuck."
I looked down and shoved a spoonful of some mixed veggies, ignoring their glances, and long awkward silence filled the air.
Minho coughed, making me look over in curiosity,
"So.. uhm mei, could you help me arrange some stuff in the map room later?" he nervously asked"Oh yeah sure," I said before placing my spoon on my empty plate.
Newt and Tommy glared at Minho, smirking at them to show off his triumph. Chuck looked at me funny, giggling.
"I'm coming with," "Me too," they both protested,
"But-"
"It's fine, maybe we can finish whatever u need help with faster with more people." I interrupted. As we made our way to the map room, Minho seemed hesitant to start organizing the supplies. I could sense his nervousness, and it made me wonder what was really going on in his mind.
Was he genuinely interested in me, or was this all part of the game they seemed to be playing?
As we started working, Minho tried to talk about what happened,
"Mei, about what happened in my hut,"
I stopped what I was doing,
"I want you to know, I'm not doing this because it's fun, I genuinely like you." he wrapped his arms around my waist from behind,
"Minho.."Newt and Thomas opened the door, causing me to push away Minho, they noticed the tension between Minho and me.
"Is everything alright here?" Newt asked, a hint of jealousy in his voice.
Before I could respond, Minho spoke up.
"Yeah, everything's fine. We were just.. discussing stuff."Newt narrowed his eyes, clearly not convinced.
"If you say so. But let's focus on the task at hand, shall we? What'd you need help with."The atmosphere in the room grew tense as we continued to work. I couldn't shake the feeling of Minho's arms around me, nor the confused glances from Newt and Thomas.
After a while, I excused myself, needing some space to breathe,
You okay? Tommy asked in my head
Yeah, I am, don't worry,
Come back soon before these two kill each other. he laughed,I walked back, finally feeling a weight lifted off me,
"You're back." newt said as I opened the door.
"We were just finishing up either way, so I think you can go rest up for tomorrow.""What's tomorrow?" I raised a brow in confusion.
Minnie crossed his arms, "Did you forget? We're going to find out what's so special about section seven, it was labeled on that thing we found."
"Oh, okay," I yawned,
"I'm heading back then, goodnight."As I made my way back to homestead, the events of the evening replayed in my mind.
Minho's confession had caught me off guard. Did I feel the same way about him? Or was I just caught up in the moment?
I lay down on my hammock, staring up at the ceiling. Thoughts of Minho, Newt, and Thomas swirled in my head. Each of them had their own unique qualities that drew me to them.
But there was something about Minho's straightforwardness that I found refreshing.
He didn't play games or beat around the bush. He laid his feelings out on the table, and that was something I admired. But what about Newt and Thomas?
They both seemed to have feelings for me as well, although they hadn't been as vocal about it as Minho.I sighed, feeling torn between the three of them. How was I supposed to choose?
(And did I really have to choose at all? 😏)The sound of footsteps outside pulled me from my thoughts. I sat up, wondering who it could be at this hour. As I looked over, I was surprised to see Minho standing there, a soft smile on his face.
"Goodnight Mei," he smiled and walked off. He came all the way just to bid me goodnight?
Weirdo, I laughed to myself. As I curled up into my hammock, thoughts of the three boys raced through my mind. The flutter in my heart when I was with Minho was undeniable, Newt's presence made me feel safe and warm, and I felt I could rely on Tommy for anything.
It was too much, I soon drifted to sleep. The next day, me, Tommy and Minho were heading to section 7 but wandered off into a place with separated metal walls covering the entire area.
"Where are we?" I asked,
"We call them blades." minho explained, still jogging
I kept quiet, not knowing what to say.Tommy called out, picking something off the ground, "It's Ben's isn't it?" it was a bloodstained shirt. "A Griever must've pulled him down here." I pinched my nose, disgusted by the smell.
As we jogged further, the beeping seemed to grow quicker when we were at a certain place and getting slower when we were farther from something, "Minho." I grabbed his vest, jerking him backward.
"What the shuck?-" he exclaimed. I pulled out the metal pipe thingy, "I think it's showing us the way."
I held it out, facing another direction each time, bingo. I faced the direction where it got faster,"This way. Come on." I ran, leaving the two behind.
