Minna Day couldn't stand that Riko just had to open the jar. It was like it was calling to all of them and only Riko had the weak will to open it.

"Minna, come on!"
Minna made a face at Jeremy but got up and put her melon away.
"Do we have to go shopping?"
"The winter banquet is in two weeks. Yes."
"But I didn't have to go shopping for the fall banquet!"
Cat snorted. "That's because it's half as formal as winter. C'mon, Minna, just go shopping with us. Just for one outfit and then we can go to that antique store you like. And then after the winter banquet you just go to New York with the Foxes."
Minna wrinkled her nose. "Fine."
She grabbed her sweater off the couch and grabbed her sneakers, still white and crisp from careful wearing.
"No sewing?" Laila asked.
Minna made a face. "I'm bored of that project."
Jeremy snorted. "Sure. Like you're ever bored."
Cat ruffled her hair cheerily and dragged them all outside to the elevator, and to the car.
"So," Laila said as she adjusted her seat. "What kind of outfit are you looking for?"
"No short dresses," Minna said curtly. "Preferably pants anyway."
"Red," Jeremy said quickly. When Cat turned around to give him a weird look, he said, "It looks nice on you. I vote for outlawing black, though."
"Seconded," Cat agreed.
"Thirded," Laila chimed in. "We love you, Minna, but no black. Please."
Minna huffed. "Fine. Red. Pants. Sleeves. No boob."
Cat snickered. "Boob."
Laila swatted her shoulder lightly. "Jeremy isn't laughing and he's a boy."
"I'm sorry," Cat whined. "But I have never heard Minna say boob."
Minna scowled. "Kathy already put me in something just a little too open for my taste."
"Christ, Minna, why didn't we just come here? That dress is gorgeous!"
Minna turned around to face Laila, dress swinging on its hanger in front of her. "Church dress," she evaded. "For New York. Matt said his mom likes to go to the Christmas service."
"You're going to a church?" Cat asked.
"Yes."
Minna checked the size on the dress, decided it was okay, and marched off to the shoes. "I have no suitable shoes."
"You have plenty," Jeremy whined.
"I have three pairs of shoes." Minna scanned the shelving. "None of them are proper."
A pair of tall black heels with an ankle strap looked nice enough that Minna might wear them and she popped them on to check sizing.
Laila clapped. "Perfect. Ooh, look at that coat, Cat!"
Cat turned to look and smiled. "Pretty, babe."
Minna rolled her eyes at them jokingly and put her sneakers back on. "I'm done. Can we get out of here?"
