"Minna!" Riko roared.
Minna stumbled back, short hair whipped her in the face. "What did I do? What happened?"
Riko punched the wall. "Your brother thinks he's OH SO GREAT!"
Minna flinched. Then, cautiously, she took a slow step toward him. When he made no reaction, she moved closer and hugged him gently. "What did he say?"
Riko pushed her off. "Why don't you ask him?" he sneered. "Since you two are so close."
"I don't know what happened," Minna repeated. "Do you want to tell me? I'll leave if you want me to."
"Fine. Leave. See you later."
Minna slipped out of the room, feeling herself stop suffocating the further she got from him. She found Kevin, sitting with Jean on the court, watching the players.
"Hi," she said quietly. "Riko said that you think you're oh so great."
"Yeah," Kevin said. "He misunderstood what I meant. I'll go apologize in a minute once he's cooled off. I meant that we all could be great. All four of us. When we're older."
Minna leaned against her brother's side. "Go apologize now. It's safest. Or maybe you could tell the master."
"They aren't as kind to me as they are to you," Kevin said.
"They're kinder to you than to me," Jean mumbled. "Just do it."
"Jean-Yves," Minna said, turning to face him, "what do you remember about your sister?"
"Elodie," Jean said. "She's four years younger than us. I miss her."
Minna smiled. "What was she like?"
"She was sweet. She didn't deserve what she was born into. I hope she's happy now. I think... she'd like you. A lot."
Minna brightened. "Really?"
"Yeah. She's like you. I think you'd like her, too."
Minna hugged him quickly. "I think I'd like her, too. When we get to go to France, I expect you to introduce her to me."
