In the days that followed Y/N's death, the Hamilton family found themselves enveloped in a somber haze, each moment weighed down by the heavy burden of grief. Eventually, they made the difficult decision to seek a fresh start uptown, hoping that a change of scenery would bring them some measure of solace.
Alexander
As Alexander Hamilton navigated the quiet streets of uptown, his heart weighed heavy with a burden of guilt that threatened to consume him.
"Y/N, you would like it uptown, it's quiet uptown."
With each passing day, the silence around him served as a stark reminder of the choices he had made, choices that had ultimately led to the loss of his beloved daughter, Y/N. He blamed himself for sending Philip out to the duel in the first place.
In the solitude of the garden, Alexander found himself haunted by memories of Y/N. As he knelt beside her resting place, his mind drifted back to the day she was born, a moment etched forever in his memory. The joy he had felt at holding her for the first time, the overwhelming love that had flooded his heart, it all came rushing back with painful clarity.
"Y/N," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion as he traced the letters of her name on the headstone. "You knock me out, I fall apart"
Philip
As Philip stood before Y/N's grave, the weight of his grief felt almost suffocating. The garden seemed quieter than usual, the flowers swaying gently in the breeze, a stark contrast to the turmoil in his heart.
"Hey, Y/N," Philip murmured, his voice barely above a whisper as he knelt beside her resting place. "It's me, your elder brother."
He traced the letters of her name on the headstone, his fingers trembling with emotion. "I miss you, Y/N," he confessed, his voice thick with sorrow. "Every day feels like a struggle without you."
Closing his eyes, Philip allowed himself to remember the moments they had shared, the laughter and joy that had filled their lives. "You were always so full of life," he murmured, a bittersweet smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "I can't believe you're gone."
Tears welled in Philip's eyes as he spoke, his heart heavy with the weight of his loss. "I wish I could have protected you," he whispered, his voice filled with regret. "I wish I could have done more."
As he lingered beside her grave, Philip found himself overwhelmed by a sense of longing, a longing for the sister he had lost and the moments they would never share again.
Eliza
As Eliza approached Y/N's grave, her heart heavy with grief, she couldn't help but feel a sense of peace wash over her. The garden seemed to embrace her with its quiet beauty, offering a sanctuary amidst the turmoil of her emotions.
"Hello, my darling," Eliza whispered, her voice soft and trembling as she knelt beside Y/N's resting place. "It's Ma. I've come to see you."
She reached out, tenderly tracing the letters of Y/N's name on the headstone, her fingertips lingering as if to capture the essence of her daughter's spirit. "I miss you so much," she murmured, her voice breaking with sorrow. "Every day without you feels like a lifetime."
Closing her eyes, Eliza allowed herself to remember the precious moments they had shared, the laughter and love that had filled their home. "You were my sunshine, Y/N. You and Philip." she whispered, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Remember when you used to teach us piano Ma." Philip's voice interrupted as he joined his mother's side.
"You both would always change the line." Eliza laughed softly as she remembered those moments.
"Un deux trois quatre Cinq six sept huit neuf" Eliza and Philip both sang softly. They could faintly hear Y/N's voice in their minds like she was singing along.
"Ma," Philip said softly, his voice filled with emotion as he knelt beside her. "I... I wanted to be here with you."
Eliza turned to him, her eyes red-rimmed from tears, but filled with love. "Oh, Philip," she murmured, reaching out to take his hand. "Thank you, my dear."
Philip squeezed her hand gently, his own heart heavy with grief. "I miss her, Ma," he admitted, his voice catching in his throat. "Every day feels so empty without her."
Eliza nodded, her gaze fixed on Junelle's grave. "I miss her too, Philip," she whispered, her voice barely above a whisper. "But she's always with us, in our hearts."
Alexander stood in the background watching the scene unfold. He knew that Eliza has been frequently visiting Y/N's grave as he was.
The next day Alexander spotted Eliza in the garden once again, his heart skipped a beat. He longed to approach her, to bridge the gap that had formed between them, but he hesitated, uncertain of how to begin.
"Eliza," he called softly, his voice tentative as he approached her.
Eliza turned to him, her expression guarded, but she didn't speak, her silence a painful reminder of the distance that had grown between them.
"Look at where we are. Look at where we started," Alexander began, his words halting as he struggled to find the right ones. "I know I don't deserve you, Eliza. But hear me out. That would be enough."
Eliza remained silent, her eyes fixed on the ground, her hands clenched tightly in her lap.
"If I could spare her life. If I could trade her life for mine. She'd be standing here right now and you would smile and that would be enough," Alexander continued, his voice filled with remorse. "I don't pretend to know, the challenges we're facing. I know there's no replacing what we've lost and you need time. But I'm not afraid
I know who I married. Just let me stay here by your side, that would be enough."
Tears welled in Eliza's eyes as she listened to Alexander's words, her heart torn between the pain of the past and the hope of a future together.
After a long moment, she finally spoke, her voice barely a whisper. "It's quiet uptown," she said taking Alexander's hand in hers.
Alexander's heart soared with hope at her words, his own eyes filling with tears. "Thank you, Eliza," he said softly, kissing her hand. "I promise, I'll spend the rest of my days making it up to you."
As they sat together in the garden, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the memories of their shared past, Alexander and Eliza knew that their journey to healing would not be easy. But with love and forgiveness as their guiding lights, they were determined to find their way back to each other, one step at a time. They knew that Y/N would be smiling in heaven knowing that her parents are back in each others arms.
