"Everything's growing
in our garden."
___Noa
It was the second to last day of camp. I couldn't believe that it was almost over and to think of the where I was before I started it and where I am now. Clementine has become a huge light in my life just as much as Harry has. I haven't seen River in a few weeks and I hope it stays that way. I think seeing him again would most likely tigger something in my brain. And if that ever had to happen, god I hope it doesn't in front of either Harry or Clem.
Today was also the commencement for the little ones. Throughout the couple of weeks, they have been curating a small garden of their own, flowers representing different aspects of their lives whether it was a family member or pet.
The commencement was scheduled to be at 3 pm, and is supposed to last till 4 where all of the parents are able to pick up their children from there. All parents were invited but sadly only a select few were able to come due to work schedules. One of those few were Harry which made my heart swell.
All day we were setting up for it. I had them go fetch small flowers and weeds that they could use to make some type of art on for their 'grad caps' that I put together from paper.
I walked around with Bea, eyeing all of the caps with their own specific decorative touch. I turned around to look at Clems, finding orange marigolds. I found it adorable being that she was making what looked to be a clementine out of it. She added a few green bits to the top.
She then picked up a green crayon writing in the bottom of it, flowers and friends with Ms. Noa.
I wanted to hug her and squeeze her and do everything above. Everything about her demeanor was just adorable. I'd hoped that one day I would get to have a kid just as smart and as grateful as she is. Harry got lucky, every part of her never expects anything from her father and still manages to put a smile on her face and everyone around her.
I sat down at the table that Clem sat at alone, humming along to the music that I had playing in the background. Today she is wearing a long sundress, with small toile floral patterns adorning the fabric. It was colored a dark blue patterns with a white background. Her hair was in two braids on each side of her head. Her cheeks had small freckles which was weird because Harry didn't have one freckle on his face.
Maude must have had them, I think to myself. I never minded Harry mentioning her. It was the love and loss of his life all in one I never wanted to bring it up to him because of how sensitive the topic is for him but I fear that sometimes he gets too much in his head on what she wanted him to do instead of grieving the loss of his wife.
"Hi honey, are you excited for today?" I asked her. She nodded her head so fiercely. I giggled, as she finished her grad cap.
"That's great! You excited to see your daddy today? Can't wait for him to see your small garden!"
"I know Ms. Noa. Especially the flowers for mommy. I think he will love it!" I nodded, smiling at how happy she looks.
"So happy you're excited. Let me go check on the other kids, I'll circle back to you in a few minutes see you later Clem." I said as I got up, analyzing everyone else's art.
Once lunch had rolled around I collected all caps, everyone of them done and waited till all the kids lined up to give them their caps back.
I had them one by one bring their parents to their garden to explain to them what the flowers mean to them. I went over to Clem's with Harry standing right next to her as she sits on his knee.
