I give fragments
Pieces
Of the truth
I can't let the whole truth be known
I just can't
It's to protect you
But also me
To protect both of us
I know it would anger you
Sadden you
It would sadden me
Your response would be in attacks
And defense
I do what I do for protection
I can't tell you everything
Not now
Not yet
It has to be this way
The truth is difficult
It's a lot to handle
I can barely handle it
It's better for it to remain hidden
It really is
It has to remain dormant
It just has to
Parts of it at least
As much as I really want to be open
As much as I want to be honest
Some things are too much
Too much for either of us to handle
And that's the truth
That's all it is
The truth
