Anthony walked into his bedroom his wife was nestled under a blanket propped up on several pillows singing softly to their son.Anthony stood there in the doorway as Kate finished singing.
"That was wonderful my darling"
"Oh Anthony I hadn't heard you come in"
"Did you get much sleep"
"Oh yes your mama came in and took him she wanted time with her grandson"
"Daphne has two other children"
"I am aware"
"Couldn't she have stolen one of them"
"Daph and Simon are not in the country at the moment"
"Oh right"
"So no" Kate said letting out a small giggle
"Obviously" Anthony said laughing as well
Edmund started to fuss and Kate immediately calmed him down.
Anthony watched his wife smiling till Kate looked up at him
"What?"
"You are a wonderful mother"
"Anthony it's barely been a week"
"Still"
Anthony kissed Kate's head softly as she held their barely a week old son in her arms.
"Anthony" Kate whispered
"Kathani" Anthony whispered back
"Are you well?"
"Yes are you?"
"Yes well as one can be after just birthing a child"
Anthony snorted
"You just...."
"Go on"
"You seem to be distracted all week that's all"
"Do I"
"Anthony do not try this game with me tell me what is that matter"
"It does not matter at this moment"
"Alright" Kate turned back to Edmund who was slowly falling asleep.
Anthony watched them for a second before responding
"Kate"
She looked up "yes"
"Will I be a good father?"
"Oh Antony the best"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes Anthony you are so wonderful with your brothers and sisters"
"But a baby I helped raise the children but-"
"Anthony we both know what we are doing it will be alright"
"Are you quite sure"
"Oh yes"
Kate kissed him softly on the lips and kissed the baby softly on the head "I'm so very sure"
Anthony squeezed Kate's hand softly
"We will do this together"
"Promise"
"It is a promise Anthony Bridgerton"
Anthony let out a small sigh of relief sitting down on their bed.
"Were you worried?"
He nodded and buried his head in Kate's neck
"Anthony" Kate whispered smiling
"Hmm?" He looked up
"I've got both my boys in my arms"
Anthony's face softened ever more as he stood up and lay next to Kate on the bed resting his head on her shoulder.
"Edmund Bridgerton"
Anthony whispered Kate nodded playing with Anthony's hair with one hand holding a sleeping Edmund on her arm
"He will be a wonderful viscount one day"
"Oh I do not doubt it if he is like his father" Kate said planting a small kiss on both her son and her husband's foreheads.
Anthony and Kate lay there for a while till Kate stood up to put Edmund in the nursery when Kate returned she lay down on the bed and Anthony snuggled himself next to her under the covers.
The two fell asleep in each others arms Kate had her arms wrapped around her husband who was sleeping beside her as he didn't want to her by laying on her stomach after she just had a baby.
