Colin was not convinced he made eye contact with Eloise from across the hall she looked at pen looked at Colin and back and forth before settling on Colin's eyes Eloise cocked her head to the side a worried expression on her face Colin looked down at pen who had her eyes shut and we sipping her lemonade "is she well?" Eloise mouthed "I do not know" Colin mouthed back
Pen leaned against Colin, he squeezed her hand softly.
"are you sure you are well darling?"
" it is so very hot In here"
"shall we go outside?"
"I don't wish to leave in the middle of your brothers dinner party"
" I'm sure Antony will be alright"
"it will haunt me all night if I leave"

"Kate can we step outside for a moment, pen is feeling a bit hot"
"of course take the time you need"she squeezed pen's arm and Colin took pen's hand guiding her outside she stopped on the patio and took a deep breath as Colin wrapped his arms around her.

"They are too focused on themselves" he planted another kiss on her lips and she leaned into him as he pulled her closer.
"Do you wish to go home?"
"I do but we cannot"
"Who says we cannot!!"
"I mean we can sneak away?"
"Very well" he kissed her softly on the head and let out a little sigh.

"good shall we?" He held out his arm and she took it.
"Ah there you two are" Violet said meeting them in the doorway
"Yes here we are" Colin said looking down at pen who giggled into his arm "whatever you two are planning stop it"
Colin let out a bark of laughter "we are doing nothing mother" a smirk spreading across his face.
Before she could respond he pulled Penelope down the hallway the two giggling madly like young children.
They ran smack into Eloise and Phillip
"Ah pen Kate said you felt ill are you feeling any better"
"Slightly Imp-"
Colin elbowed her
"Well I'm afraid I might have a slight cold"
"Oh y-" Eloise paused
"What are you two doing?"
"we are doing nothing"

"Yes i believe you are" Phillip added slightly amused

"Colin-" Violet appeared behind them
"Penelope feels slightly weary"
"Oh well you must go home then"
"Yes I believe we should"
"They are trying to escape" Eloise said
"What can you mean?"
"Nothing she means nothing" Colin yelled pulling pen with him.
"Colin Bridgerton! Penelope Bridgerton!"
The two didn't stop running down the hallway till they reach the entry hall Anthony was standing there with Kate on his arm.
"ah brother we are retiring for the evening"
"oh is everything well"
"No pen feels rather ill"
"I do bit of a cold I'm afraid" before Anthony could respond Colin had pulled her out the door way and into the night.
