After Fiona's birthday party, Fae headed over to Kai's house. Her heart was pounding as she reached his front door. Before she could knock, the door swung open, and there stood Kai.

"You look great," he said, checking her out

"Thanks," Fae said, trying to play it cool as she stepped inside. She was still rocking her party outfit—a dress that hugged her in all the right places.

Kai closed the door behind her. "Come on in," he said, leading her to the living room. It was way more chill than the chaos of the party. Kai plopped down on the couch and patted the spot next to him.

"How was the party?" he asked, handing her a soda.

"It was fun," Fae replied, popping the tab. "But I'm glad to be here now."

"Yeah, parties can be overrated," Kai laughed, sitting down next to her.

Fae nodded, taking a sip of her drink. The silence between them felt easy, like they didn't need to fill it with forced conversation. She noticed Kai was looking at her, and when she glanced over, their eyes met.

"Here" Kai hands her his vape.

"Thanks," Fae grinned back.

As she took a puff, she felt the tension of the evening start to melt away. "This is way better than

the party," she said, exhaling a cloud of smoke.

Kai chuckled. "Told ya. This is why I don't like attending events."

They laughed and talked about random stuff, the night stretching out before them. It felt good to be there, just the two of them, with no one else around.

Kai's cat sauntered around the living room, making Fae laugh. "I'm finally happy to meet your cats. They're so cute," she said, reaching down to pet one. As if on cue, the cat rubbed against her leg, purring.

"I think she likes me," Fae grinned, looking up at Kai.

"Yeah, she has good taste," Kai replied, smirking.

They were sitting close, their bodies almost touching. The tension between them was palpable as they made eye contact again, each one wondering what the other was thinking.

Fae broke the silence. "So, Lydia hates me now. Probably because the guy she likes started texting me. She must've found out, and now she's giving me nasty looks."

Kai raised an eyebrow. "Lydia? Seriously? That girl's always causing drama."

"Tell me about it," Fae sighed, leaning back against the couch. "She's so petty. Like, it's not my fault he texted me first."

Kai chuckled. "Yeah, people get so worked up over stuff like that. Just ignore her."

Fae nodded, feeling a bit better just talking about it. "It's just annoying, you know? I didn't even do anything."Kai's expression softened.

They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, the only sound being the purring of Kai's cat. Fae took another drag from the vape, exhaling slowly.

"Thanks," she said softly, her eyes meeting his again.

"Anytime," Kai replied, his gaze lingering on her.

The air between them was charged, every touch and glance loaded with unspoken words. It felt like they were both waiting for the other to make a move.

Kai's cat jumped up on the couch between them, breaking the tension for a moment. Fae laughed, giving the cat a gentle scratch behind the ears.

"So," Kai said, clearing his throat, "You wanna watch something or just chill?"
