Six days passed, and on a Saturday, Kai finally sent Fae a meme on Instagram. Fae saw the notification and rolled her eyes. It had taken him long enough to reach out. She replied to the meme, but her response was dry, not her usual self. She didn't bother trying to strike up a conversation, figuring if he wanted to talk, he could start it himself.

Two days later, on Monday, Fae came home from the mall and went straight to her room. She flopped onto her bed and mindlessly scrolled through her phone. As she checked her Instagram, she noticed something that made her heart skip a beat. She had a few less followers than before. Curious, she went to her followers list and started checking.

Her heart sank. Out of all the people she expected, it turned out to be Kai who had unfollowed both her private and main accounts. The realization hit her like a ton of bricks. She sat up, her world crashing down around her.

Her heart felt like it was in a million pieces. Why would he do this? After everything, after all the times he had reached out just to pull away again, this felt like the final nail in the coffin. Fae's mind raced, replaying every conversation, every laugh, every moment they had shared. It felt like all of it was for nothing.s

She wanted to cry, but no tears came. Instead, she felt numb, staring at her phone screen, trying to process the pain. She thought they were at least friends, but this? This was a slap in the face. Fae tossed her phone aside, burying her face in her hands. She feels like she doesn't even love him anymore just attached to him in a way that she cares sooooooo much.

How could he be so cold? How could he just cut her off like that? The ache in her chest was overwhelming. She had given so much of herself to him, and now he had just discarded her without a second thought. It was like everything they had meant nothing to him.

For a while, Fae just lay there, she smoked away on a vape, letting the hurt wash over her. Eventually, she knew she had to get up, had to move on with her day. But the weight of Kai's unfollow stayed with her, a painful reminder of what she had lost.

Fae sat up, staring at her phone. After a few minutes of debating with herself, she decided to text Kai. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard before she finally typed, "Why did u unfollow me dawg?" She hesitated for a second, then hit send.

She waited. A day passed. Then a second one. Still no reply. Each hour that ticked by without a response felt like a stab to her heart. She checked her phone obsessively, hoping for any sign that he would answer. But there was nothing.

Fae was crushed. The silence from Kai was deafening, and it made the pain even worse. She had put herself out there, trying to understand why he had cut her off, but his lack of response was like insane.

That week was a blur of tears and heartache. Every night, she cried herself to sleep, feeling the weight of guilt and betrayal. She couldn't escape the thoughts that plagued her mind. Why had he done this? What had she done wrong? The questions swirled around her head, keeping her up at night and making it impossible to focus during the day. She just wanted to know why.

At this point, Kai's passive victim-playing made Fae start questioning if it was her fault. Maybe being dry and not texting him for weeks offended him? But deep down, she knew he was the problem. She had just stopped trying to see if he cared, and guess what? He didn't.

Was it her fault for not reaching out more? The self-doubt gnawed at her, making her stomach churn. But then, a small voice inside reminded her of the truth: Kai had been the one pulling away first. His coldness, his distance—it wasn't her doing. He was the one who had changed.

She stared at the ceiling, wiping away fresh tears. "Why am I blaming myself?" she whispered. "He was the one who stopped caring."

As the days dragged on, Fae began to see things more clearly. She realized that she had been bending over backward to keep Kai in her life, making excuses for his behavior. She remembered all the times he had been distant and how she had always been the one to bridge the gap.

"Maybe I was dry," she muttered to herself, "but he didn't even try. He didn't care enough to fix things."

Her thoughts raced as she sat up, a newfound determination rising within her. She couldn't keep blaming herself for Kai's actions. It was clear now—he didn't care about her the way she cared about him. She had to accept that painful truth and move on. Easier said than done.

Fae took a deep breath, wiped her eyes one last time, and resolved to let go of the guilt and self-blame. It was time to focus on herself and find happiness without Kai. She did it once she can do it again. I think.
