(though the title isn't exact to it, it suddenly reminds me of high school musical-)
Taeko Miyazaki
The brunette girl had sighed quietly, as she started walking with Shinozuka back to the others. She definitely had to face them at some point. She couldn't stay away forever.
As soon as the two made it back, they noticed that the group had scattered a little, and was no longer in the line that they were before as they faced the new leader of the Corps. As they were chatting, the footsteps of Taeko and Shinozuka were heard nearby, and most of them turned around, seeing them come back.
"Hey, you both are back!" Asahi had called out. "Yeah, sorry about that." Shinozuka had replied, chuckling a bit. "Yeah... sorry. I needed some time to think." Taeko had pointed out, smiling sheepishly.
"Ah, so you have returned."
Taeko and Shinozuka had turned their heads to the leader of the Corps, who was still sitting in the spot where he was before. Taeko knew that she needed to apologize for causing a scene. She had decided to ignore the chatter of her other friends for now. So, she had quickly kneeled down, her head facing the ground in front of the new leader. She was ashamed. Although she definitely expressed how she felt, it definitely came out the wrong way.
"I... I apologize for my behavior." She had begun. "I probably should've thought this over, and I-"
"There is no need to apologize, Taeko."
"Huh?"
Taeko had lifted her head up. A look of surprise came on her face, as she made eye contact with the master. A gentle smile still remained on his face. It reminded her of his father, Kagaya. Taeko had only spoken to him a couple of times. Her late siblings had spoken to him a lot more than she did.
"I understand how you're feeling, and I admit, I should've thought about how you felt before giving you such a title." He had pointed out. "If you are not ready, I will not stop you from not taking that title."
"No, I think I'm ready."
Silence came in between the two when Taeko had said that. The gentle smile remained on Kiriya's face, though there was a slight hint of concern when Taeko had said that. "You do not need to feel obliged or pressured to take the title of Hashira. I know it is a lot, and it takes a lot of responsibility to earn that title."
"I... I honestly felt like I didn't deserve it. My rank isn't even close to being a Hashira."
"And that is fine." Kiriya had hummed softly, then replied. "To be honest, we are happy that you have returned to us after months of disappearance. Even after the defeat of Kibutsuji, we lost the others in the process. But you... you lived. You could've been turned into a demon like the others, or even killed like Nezuko was. And seeing that you aren't alone now, it gives me relief that you're protected."
Taeko still had that look of surprise as she stared at the new master for a few moments. Despite him being younger than her, she could tell that there were some traits that he had gotten from his father. Especially after all the events that had happened.
"So Taeko... let me ask you this again. Are you planning to accept the title of Hashira?"
Taeko had simply stood up, pondering on that question. She then took a deep breath, trying to ignore the racing thoughts in her mind. "I made a promise to not let others go through the same pain I did. And I don't want to break that promise now." She had pointed out. A soft smile then came on her face once more. "I am more than willing to take that title of Hashira."
