We last read Chapter 26, in which Mavis continues to converse with the newly-revealed Prince Boripedes following her husband Garson's subtle incapacitation at the prince's hands. After learning that he is Balfort Ladair's younger brother, she initially refuses to believe him, and instead asks him numerous questions to test his knowledge on Balfort and the rest of the royal family.....a test which Boripedes utterly aces, much to Mavis's shock. She promptly faints, and is woken up about an hour later, at which point Boripedes begins attempting to convert Mavis to his side willingly by playing on Balfort keeping Boripedes's existence a secret from Mavis for countless years. He eventually becomes annoyed when Mavis instead suggests that she and Garson play the role of the "middlemen" between Boripedes and Balfort—since the two men apparently have bad blood—and attempts to get "insurance" by coercing her into lying with him, something which she vehemently refuses. The confrontation soon turns physical, and it ends with Mavis non-lethally dispatching Prince Boripedes and inadvertently scorching half of his face before fleeing the island base with a still-unconscious Garson.

This time, Mavis and Garson return to the shore of Romania's mainland, and Garson manages to shrug off the effects of Prince Boripedes's drug.....

-Romanian Coast, Romania-

Mavis Ladair a.k.a. Red Fang managed to escape Prince Boripedes's island and paddle all the way back to the shoreline while Garson was still hoisted behind her, a feat which she likely wouldn't have been able to accomplish had it not been for the sheer adrenaline rushing through her following her confrontation with her apparent uncle, Prince Boripedes. Once she and her husband were both safely on land, they both collapsed out of sheer exhaustion, though Mavis still remained conscious.

"Garson, dragul meu (dear)?" she called softly and tiredly. "Pssst! Hey! Are you awake?"

She placed her left hand on his back and shook him back and forth lightly. "Come on, you simply must get up, for I believe I lack the strength to make the rest of the trip."

She got no response from Garson at first.....but eventually, a smirk came to her face as she thought of a rather amusing way to wake him up.

"Well....." she teased. "If you insist on remaining incapacitated, I suppose I shall not be paying for our evening snacks....."

"WAIT!" Garson exclaimed, immediately jolting back up and coming to his senses. "Maybe I'm a little bit awake."

"Heh. Works every time," Mavis boasted. "You missed out on quite a bit."

"Really? What's been going on?"

Mavis exhaled, then she dropped one heck of a revelation on her husband.

"Boripedes is my uncle."

Garson blinked. "What?"

"He is called Prince Boripedes, and he is Father's sibling. Thus, he is my uncle. .....Apparently."

"What?! No way! That means he has to have some connection to the missing Bloodstone, right? Maybe we can ask him about—wait, why are we back on the shore?" Garson inquired, before turning his head around and seeing Prince Boripedes's island in the distance. "And why did we leave the island?!"

"I tried to compromise with him," Mavis resumed. "He attempted to sway me his direction since I had never heard of him before now. He claimed that Father was hiding him from me.....and that he never really loved me as a result."
