THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE SUNLIGHT WAS STREAMING outside, which meant we were confined indoors at the mansion. The Khotler Mansion had its perks with plenty of activities to keep us occupied. However, the downside was being cooped up inside until the sun disappeared behind the clouds or night fell.

Being a vampire definitely had its drawbacks.

My mind wandered to the mysterious man I had encountered the previous night. If he could manipulate shadows and darkness, could he withstand the sunlight?

Despite not knowing him, I couldn't deny that he was quite handsome.

His chiseled jawline and piercing eyes had left a lasting impression on me. I couldn't help but wonder what secrets lay behind his enigmatic smile. Was he a vampire like me and the Khotlers or something entirely different like the bear shifters women in the Ursa Clan?

As I sat in the opulent drawing room of the Khotler Mansion, my thoughts were interrupted by the sound of laughter and footsteps echoing through the hallways. The other residents of the mansion, a diverse coven of vampires, were finding ways to entertain themselves despite the sunlight's restrictions.

Gabriel and Helena were engrossed in intense chess matches, their minds strategizing every move. Joseph and Ethan were playing video games in the game room. Simon was in the grand library, their noses buried in ancient tomes, seeking knowledge and answers to the mysteries of the world. Alana and Rhona were hanging around the swimming pool.

I sighed, feeling a pang of envy. While I appreciated the company of my fellow residents, I longed for the freedom to explore the world beyond the mansion's walls. The sunlight was a constant reminder of the limitations imposed upon me by my vampiric nature.

Lost in my thoughts, I absentmindedly traced the intricate patterns on the armrest of the antique chair I was sitting on. The mansion, with its rich history and luxurious furnishings, had become my sanctuary. It provided a sense of belonging and community that I had never experienced before.

But as the hours ticked by, my thoughts inevitably gravitated towards the shadow man. There was a nagging suspicion that he might just be Joseph's long-lost brother, Ingram. It was a notion I couldn't shake off, as his presence lingered persistently in my mind, refusing to be dismissed.

Soon, he became my main focus. I leaned back to the armrest and pictured him more clearly, remembering the last two nights I saw him.

It was peculiar, this desire to see him once more. A longing to hold him close, to feel the weight of his body against mine. His lips gently brushing against my own, his hands—

No, absolutely not. I could not believe that I had just indulged in such a fantasy. I needed to divert my attention, to engage myself in some activity within the vast expanse of this mansion.

Rising from the chair, I decided to go back downstairs when most of the Khotlers were in. I descended to the stairs and a sense of familiarity washed over me. It was as if I was slowly but surely becoming a part of the family. I relished the feeling of getting to know them better, of learning their stories and their quirks.

It would definitely help getting the shadow man out of my head.

My curiosity was piqued as I pondered how Gabriel and Helena had met, what their love story entailed. I wondered about Joseph and Rhona's first encounter, the moment that sparked their romance. And, of course, I yearned to know more about Alana, the enigmatic member of the family.

As I made my way towards the living room, I spotted Gabriel and Helena engrossed in a game of chess by the fireplace. It was as if they were in their own little world, the rest of the house fading into the background. I couldn't help but smile at the sight of them, so comfortable in each other's company.
