I CHOSE NOT TO DISCLOSE THE DETAILS OF MY ENCOUNTER with Ingram during our walk. There was something about that moment that felt deeply personal, something that I wanted to keep to myself. But the more I thought on it, the more I found myself wanting to see Ingram again.
I couldn't deny the magnetic pull he had on me, even though I knew it was wrong. Ingram was Joseph's brother, and getting involved with him would only complicate things further. But the way he looked at me, the way his voice sent shivers down my spine, it was impossible to resist.
As we stepped into the mansion, a gentle push guiding us forward, the opulence of the place never ceased to astound me. The vibrant hues of the crackling fireplace welcomed us, yet my bewilderment heightened upon spotting Gabriel in front of it, with Helena lurking behind him. Simon and Alana were snuggled on the couch to the left, while Rhona occupied the opposite end.
"I thought we needed a search party," Gabriel exclaimed.
Joseph attempted to explain, but his words lacked conviction. "She was simply taking a nighttime stroll."
My gaze wandered around the room, landing on a book lying on the floor. Intrigued, I made my way towards it.
"Considering this coven has a library," I pondered aloud, heading towards the book. "You left that book on the ground."
"It wasn't me," Simon quickly defended himself.
"Then who left this here?" I inquired, picking up the book, when suddenly something dropped in front of me.
I glanced up to see Ethan, roaring like a child attempting to startle me. But he was a big kid. My amber eyes stared blankly at him as he stopped screaming.
I greeted him with a smile, and his question caught me off guard, "Were you scared?" he asked, searching for an honest response.
I couldn't resist rolling my eyes, "I was this close to being scared," I retorted sarcastically, holding my fingers up to emphasize my point.
Ethan chuckled, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Well, I'll have to try harder next time," he replied, a mischievous grin playing on his lips.
I couldn't help but wonder if he ever thought before he spoke. Did he even listen to himself? But I pushed those thoughts aside as we settled onto the couch, surrounded by the family.
Gabriel clutched the pristine white envelope in his hand, and as he delicately unfolded it. With great care, he extracted a small card, cleared his throat, and commenced reading.
"Isabella Marie Swan and Edward Anthony Masen Cullen," he began. "Together with their families; request the honour of your presence at the celebration of their marriage."
A tiny voice within me couldn't contain its delight and let out a high-pitched squeal. Edward and Bella, finally tying the knot? Why was I even surprised? They had endured countless trials together, facing Victoria's wrath, the chaos of the newborns, the haunting howls of the wolves, and the ever-looming threat of the Volturi.
"Wow, that's absolutely marvelous news!" Alana exclaimed, her eyes shimmering with unbridled joy.
"Finally, they're making it official," Joseph chimed in, a wide grin stretching across his face.
I couldn't help but feel a surge of happiness for the couple. Edward and Bella's love story was one for the ages, a tale of forbidden love and undying devotion. From the moment they met in that small town of Forks, their connection was undeniable, their bond unbreakable.
As Gabriel continued to read the details of the wedding invitation, my mind drifted to the memories I shared with the couple. From the first time Bella stumbled into the cafeteria at Forks High School, to the day Edward saved her from a speeding van, to their epic showdown with the newborn army, I had been there every step of the way.
