Jan POV

School went by pretty fast. It's now lunch time and Dwayne was rambling about how awesome last night was for him.

"Bro, did you hear about the music auditions??" Dwayne asked. I turned and gave him a look as if he just had two heads. First, he talks about breaking the rules and now he's interested in music?

I frowned, "What auditions?"

"About the music auditions! You'll have to play an instrument and when the judges like it then you'll be a part of the orchestra." Dwayne explained.

"Okay.." I nodded oddly at him. He usually doesn't talk about things like that. "You know what? I forgot something in my locker. I'll see you in class." I pat his back and went to my locker.

On my way to the lockers, I passed by the auditorium and saw that the door was open.

I peeked through the door to see a girl. She had long, black, wavy hair with glasses. She was petite and was holding a violin case. She went to the stage and pulled out a paper, which seemed to be notes written on them. I snuck in the balcony and stood there, hiding, for her not to see me. Her bangs fell perfectly by her eyes as she opened the case.

She held the violin, tuning it. I felt my heart beat  like I was in a marathon. She started to play the song, A Thousand Years by Christina Perri.

The way she played the song, I felt butterflies in my stomach. Everything seemed perfect; the setting, the atmosphere, everything. The hairs in my back stood up as I closed my eyes, taking in the beautiful music.

There was something with this girl... she was... perfect. I felt deeply connected to her and it was odd - as if she was my soulmate. "Are you hearing yourself?! What do you mean she's your soulmate?! You don't even know her! Stupid." I muttered under my breath.

I was brought back to reality when Dwayne crept by my back, "Hey!"

"God!" I whispered-yelled in surprise, glaring at him right after.

"What you doing?" He squeaked, moving beside me to check out what I was looking at.

"Once she held the violin.. I was sure she was the one.." I muttered breathlessly, completely ignoring his question.

Dwayne asked, looking at me like I was crazy, "How would you even know?"

"I heard her play..." A smiled seemed to creep in my face, "It was different from how the others played it... Once she played it I felt that every time she would strum it would be full of emotion." I stated, staring at the mysterious violinist.

"What's her name?" He raised his eyebrow in curiosity.

"Mariana!!" Someone at the back shouted, she was a girl, and was running to the violinist.

"Hey, Franella!" The girl who is actually 'Mariana' waved and placed the violin down. I frowned as listened intently at their ongoing conversation.

Franella tilted her head, "That's odd... What are you doing here?"

"I just wanted to think.. That's all.." She explained but didn't even smile. "What are you doing here?" She asked while fixing her violin in the case.

"I was looking all over for you, figured you'd stay here." She answered. I bit my lip as I stared at Mariana; taking in her beautiful features. She was... interesting. And I would love to see more from her, if I ever could.
