Belonging

The girls had stopped for a bite to eat before hitting the shops. Charlotte had stepped away to take a phone call from Mia and came back to the table laughing her ass off.

"Oh man so Reese is currently stuck in the booster seat. I'm not sure why he was in it in the first place but Mia and Autumn are trying a bunch of weird hacks to get him out." She laughed.

Carly's jaw dropped,"Oh my god! Tell me there's a picture because I'll get a jumper made with it on there."

"Way ahead of you." Charlotte  laughed as she showed the picture.

Marjorie couldn't stop herself from laughing to even make a comment. The table was full of laughter and it was so healing for Charlotte.  They talked about the nursery, their families and the wedding of course. Charlotte wondered if she should talk to the girls about her latest strange dreams.

Just as she began to really think about the dream, Marjorie's voice pulled her from her thoughts.

"You okay, my love? You're lost in your mind again."

"Oh yeah, I'm okay. I've just been having some strange dreams lately and I can't seem to shake them off."

"Oh no." Marj frowned,"Are they still about Nick?"

"I'm getting better about those dreams/flashbacks, but no these aren't about him."

"Spit it out, Char! I'm dying to know!" Carly smiled at her across the table.

"Okay okay I will but you can't tell anyone! I've been dreaming about our family and that's pretty normal but there's another baby. It's not just Renee and Ellie. There's another small child and I can't help but have baby fever. I'm not sure if Mia would even want to go through all of that and frankly I'm not sure if I want to have another baby. But something is pulling at my heartstrings when I think about it, like that baby needs me."

Carly's eyes widened,"Oh my god! Another baby! That would be so cute."

"I'm sure the baby would be super cute but it's also really expensive. I say you should talk with Mia and see what she's thinking. I think she'd surprise you with how she feels about it honestly." Marjorie reasoned with Charlotte.

Okay, thought Charlotte, at least it's been said and now I can relax. Her thoughts lingered on about that sweet baby and stayed day dreaming about them. She continued to converse with Carly and Marjorie but it was surface level. She looked at the time and began to stand up to clean up the table.

""You guys should get going if we're gonna make it to the appointment on time!"

Her thoughts subsided in the car as they talked about what kind of dress they think she'd end up with. She truly had no clue what she might want but was so excited to have this special moment. Even though this was her second marriage, it was her first wedding and first time feeling excited about marriage in a long time. Miserable was how she felt going through the proceedings with Nick when they went to the courthouse. But miserable and Mia don't even belong in the same sentence in Charlotte's mind.

Charlotte felt such a deep sense of belonging when she was around Mia. She never had to fear whether she was good enough because she always reassured her without questions asked. The countless "I love you"s everyday was still something she still was getting used to. In the past, she had to prove herself to Nick that she deserved to be told she was loved. So she only heard it a few times throughout the whole marriage. But it was so different with Mia. Mia made her feel like a teen girl falling in love for the first time and each day she fell harder for her.

The next several minutes were a haze for Charlotte as she looked through white dress after white dress. She was a bit overwhelmed and wasn't sure what would look on her figure. It wasn't often that Charlotte ever wore anything that wasn't flowy. She didn't feel very confident about her body so flowy was what she was hoping to stick with.

She grabbed a few simple princess dresses with simple details. Carly had slipped a very sexy simple dress into the mix without telling Charlotte though.  The look on her face when she pulled on a beautiful a line dress that showed off her breasts in the best way possible was pure shock. It had sleeves the came down about an inch before her elbows.

When she showed Marjorie and Carly, their eyes just about bugged out of their heads.
"Holy shit! I didn't know you had a hot bod like that, Char. You've gotta start showing those girls off before you have to sling over your shoulder." Marjorie laughed because she knew if she didn't, she would cry at how beautiful Charlotte looked.

For once, Carly was speechless. Charlotte was her best friend and getting to see her have this moment was very touching. She couldn't find the words to express to her how ethereal she looked. The best she could come up was,
"Woah."

Charlotte giggled at Carly's response and admired herself in the mirror," Girls I don't even think I want to try on anything else."

"I don't think you should. You look absolutely radiant, my love." Marjorie felt a tear slip down her cheek. She had seen Char go through so much and held her hand the whole way. She was so proud of her.

"Let's get the dress off of you and we can check wedding dress shopping off of your to-do list, shall we?"

After purchasing the dress, Marjorie's phone began to ring and it was Autumn calling.

"What do you mean you couldn't get it off and now you're going to the fire department to get them to cut it off of him?"

Charlotte had learned her lesson. Never ever leave the siblings and Mia without supervision. But she also learned from Carly how to customize a jumper with the picture of Reese stuck inside the booster seat. Both are equally important lessons of life
