It had been several weeks after the insemination and Charlotte was beginning to feel different. She wasn't as nervous or on edge like she had been before, she was just trying to go with the flow. Some days she'd sit in the mirror and admire herself wondering if the pregnancy would stick but too soon to buy a test. She always hated getting sick but when she began to feel nauseous every day around the same time? She actually got excited about it knowing what it meant.

Charlotte wanted nothing more than to be a good mother and in the last few months, she had been shaken and insecure about her role. When the kids were little, she was so busy trying to survive that a lot of things slipped through the cracks. She tried to give them the best childhood she could and was still in the process of doing that. She wasn't sure what she would've done if Mia had never found her outside the bar that night. What her life would like now without her was a scary thought, but she was so glad to have Mia by her side.

She finally worked up the courage to go and buy a pregnancy test while she was on her break at the nursery. She was going to wait til she got home to take it but curiosity killed the cat. Dejavu was washing over her as she sat in the nursery bathroom and was holding the test away from her, shaking with excitement. The next several minutes dragged on for eternity and in that time she began to doubt herself.

Turning the test around to face her, she couldn't help but feel tears burning her eyes. She held herself a little closer, "You did it, Charlotte." She whispered as she wiped her eyes, her heart was practically jumping out of her chest. She felt so proud of herself at that moment.

It was strange. She wanted to remember this as only a happy moment but there was still sadness lingering. She would've been about to have the twins if the timing had been right. She smiled thinking about them and how they would get to stay forever little in her mind. It brought her small peace of mind to know they would always be a part of her life, whether they were in her arms or not. They would always be in her heart. She gathered herself and finished her shift at the nursery, she was glowing already.

Mia couldn't take her eyes off of Charlotte when she pulled up in the car park and saw her waiting by the door for her. Charlotte's smile made her swoon and she watched her intently as she walked to the car.

"Hello sweetheart." She leaned over and gave her a hug and a kiss,"What's got my baby so smiley, hm?"

Charlotte wordlessly pulled the test from her purse and handed it over to Mia. The look on her face was priceless as she realized what she was holding in her hand and that it was positive.

"Oh my goodness!" Mia exclaimed, looking at Charlotte and pulling her into the tightest hug. "You did such a good job, Char. I'm so proud of you."

"Thank you Mia." She smiled,"We're gonna be parents again!" She laughed and it was such a beautiful sound. Mia had missed listening to her happiness. It brought her such a sense of joy knowing her baby was okay and they were getting to live out their dream together.

"Does that make you happy, sweet girl?" Mia coeed, she had been hoping it would turn out like this for them.

"I feel as happy as I did on our wedding day."

"I'm so glad you're happy, Char. Watching you smile and glow makes me go a bit feral. " She chuckles,"But I'm trying to keep this romantic for you."

Charlotte shakes her head, "Shame on you for being dirty at such a precious moment." She playfully scolded her.

Mia took a moment to just really take in Charlotte's face, her body and the way she was radiating. She wasn't speaking or moving, just staring her down. Char got a bit nervous under her look and began to squirm in her seat.

"No baby, sit still for me please."

"Why?" She asked, confused.

"I want to remember this moment forever and I'm trying to burn this image of your happiness in my mind so I'll never forget it." Mia smiled, lifting her hand to gently stroke Charlotte's cheek. "Because I love you, Char. And you are worth being remembered."

Tears streamed down her sweetheart's face, "Awe baby don't cry. I'm sorry I don't mean to make you sad."

"I'm not sad." She spoke,"You just reminded me of all the reasons you will be the most amazing mother to our baby. You already proved yourself with Ren and Ellie. You healed things in them that you didn't break without hesitation. I couldn't have been more lucky than to end up with you, Mia. I want to remember this moment forever too."

She sniffled as Mia wiped her tears away and pulled her head to lay on her chest.

"I'm the lucky one, sweetheart. You have made such a beautiful life for us and I know our baby," she ran a hand over charlotte's stomach," is lucky to have you. I know you've been feeling less than as a mother, my love. I know you've been struggling but I've never seen you give up. You are teaching our daughters to be resilient and strong. "

Charlotte listened intently as she nuzzled herself further into Mia's warmth. She'd stay like this forever if she could.

"You are what makes our family special, my sweet girl."

Authors note- Hi loves! Sorry it's so short but I was laying awake and couldn't sleep. I hope this continues to mend your broken heart as I know Charlotte is healing from her grief, you should too
