||Book 1 of my Lo'ak series!||
781 has spent her entire life confined in a laboratory, raised and studied by scientists who see her as nothing more than a test subject. She knows nothing of the outside world or the indigenous Na'vi people who inhab...
That morning I got scolded for fighting before my lessons. Lo'ak told me he didnt need to teach me english because I knew it already from being in the lab. He told me every new warrior had atleast learn some of the language.
"Okay Sey'ean today we will start to learn how to use a bow." We started to walk to an area holding training bow and arrows. Lo'ak and I picked up a bow and he led me to a target area.
"Watch me." He said and pulled the bow back. "See how my form is? Try to copy me." He let go of the arrow as it hit a bullseye. I drew back the string of the bow and tried to copy what Lo'ak did.
"Sloppy." he said. He came a pushed up my arm, put my head straight, and pushed in my stomach. "Again."
"Huh?"
"Get back into your stance." I let the arrow come back by the bow and I did it again.
"Again." I did it again.
And again.
And again.
"Whats the point of all this?!" I said after being in the stance for about 20 times.
"The point is to let the stance come naturally. In times of war you dont have time to correct your stance every time." he sighs. "Again."
I pulled back the string of the bow. "Good." Lo'ak said and started circling me then he grabbed something. "Now your ready to shoot." He held out an arrow.
After putting the string back by the bow, I had put on the arrow and drew the string back. "Now before you shoot the arrow, line your site, hold the bow like there is nothing there and breath in and let the breath out and shoot."
I lined my site up to the target and held the bow like there was nothing there. I took a deep breath in then out and let go. I watched as the arrow went, and went, and went past the target into the woods. I sighed. "Again."
"But my arms are tired." I said.
"And I dont want to be training someone. Your point is?" Lo'ak said. "Again."
"I rolled my eyes and did the same thing and missed. "Again."
"Again."
"Again."
"Again."
Thats what ive been hearing all day. Slowly missing the target to getting some of the shots on the target.
"Again."
This time when I let go of the string the arrow went into the target, into a bullseye. "I got it!" I said looking at Lo'ak.
He smirked. "Good. Again."
I looked at him in disbelief, he motioned to the target. "You have to practice to hit the target everytime. Bullseyes are better."
I sighed. I held up the bow again and shot it.
We finished training a little while later, and decided to start practicing hand to hand combat. Every person needed to know this. I watched as Lo'ak explained some punches and moves. He then grabbed a dummy bag and had me start practicing them.
He showed me how to punch in different area's in the face and the stomach. We practiced those. We practiced hitting in the no-no area, on a sand bag. "We should have you do it to someone, this training." Lo'ak said.
"You should have her do it to you." Neteyam said as he was walking by. "You suggested it."
"Yeah no. Sey'ean would never do it to me. Right Sey'ean?" Lo'ak turned to me and I gave him a smirk and looked him dead in the eye.
"You have 3 seconds to run." I said and started counting down quickly as Lo'ak ran off. "3, 2, 1!" I ran after him.
With my training I got up to him quickly as we went to an open area with other Na'vi and Jake and Neytiri. Lo'ak put his arms in the air and started screaming after seeing his parents. Something about 'Dont let her take my spirit away from my body! Help me!'
As he hid behind his father. Jake smirked. "What's wrong scared of getting beaten up by a girl?"
He looked back at him and Lo'ak said something I couldnt understand. "Sey'ean."
I looked up at him as he grinned. "Beat his ass."
I nodded and started running after Lo'ak when he took off running yelling. "Dad, you're supposed to be on my side!"
