Sarthak's POV

"What are you doing here?" Jayesh Mathur yelled in angry, but hushed voice.

I was behind the wall but could still hear him.

My body tensed up at his unpleasant tone towards Prerna. And I did not like it one bit.

I have always found something off with him. I have seen him many times before and have noticed how unreal everyone acts around him.

I know that he is very disciplined type of person and so is Prerna but still their discipline always seemed quite disturbing to me.

"I had work," Prerna replied nervously. "Let's talk there." I heard their footsteps as they walked away.

I waited for some more seconds before strolling out of the restaurant. Driving while thinking about the interaction I had few minutes back, I reached home.

Twirling the car keys around my fingers, I whistled and walked inside.

Dadi was sitting alone in the living. Her finger moving rapidly on the phone screen. I peeked over her shoulder, only to find her playing subway surfers.

"Sit," she commanded without moving her gaze away and I obeyed.

Sitting beside her, I leaned my head on her shoulder and waited until the game was over.

She cursed under her breathe as she was very close to making a new high score but couldn't. Finally after throwing a tantrum she looked at me with a frown and raised a brow seeing something on my face.

"Did you meet your menace again?" She inquired and I smiled at her mention before nodding.

"I did," I sat back on the couch comfortably, "But it was a bit different this time." I said remembering how close we were.

Her face in my neck, me hands wrapped around her, our bodies pressed together against a wall. The way my lip unintentionally touched her ear and the way she pushed herself more into my embrace.

To her it was just a shield, a mindless action to hide from her father. But for me it was the moment I always craved and could never get.

When I tightened my grip on her, I wished she could feel how I felt for years. Even if it was for a minute. I want her to see how she has consumed my mind and soul without even trying.

Our interactions, the shared looks, the slightest contact of our skin mean nothing to her but everything to me.

It. Was. Maddening.

And I want her to know that. But guess, she will never know as her eyes only see me as her friend's brother-in-law who is too carefree and free spirited to be taken seriously.

"Sarthak," Dadi's faint voice buzzed in my head, "Sarthak!" I hissed and flinched out of my thoughts by a smack on my shoulder.

"Huh?"

"I have been calling you for a minute now," she informed and I ran a hand on my trimmed beard, "Where are you lost?"

"I'm right here," I cleared my throat before composing myself, "What was I saying?"

"That it was different this time." She seemed excited.

There was never a time when she did not show interest in my menace. She had know idea about the woman I liked, but she was still excited, sometimes more than me, to know every single thing about if possible.
