Sarthak's POV
Four days after our engagement, I found myself standing at the door of Mathur Villa.
Shobhit bhai let me leave early when I mentioned wanting to take Prerna out on a date.
I settled my hair neatly and ran a hand on the creases of my brown shirt. I do not know if she will agree to go out with me or will just simply ask me to get out. But I always want to try my luck when it comes to her. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
She does not really like her house, so I am ninety percent sure she will agree. At least I am little more tolerable than her name sake parents.
Knocking the door, I gulped down my anxiety and waited. The heavy wooden door opened, and Prerna blinked her eyes at me. My eyes dropped to her mouth when her lips slightly parted.
She was wearing a loose pyjama and cropped t-shirt. Spotless spectacles sat on her nose bridge, and her hair twisted up in a messy bun. Our engagement ring wrapped her finger perfectly, giving me a sense of protectiveness.
This look of her was very comforting and...enticing for no apparent reason.
I cleared my throat, "Hi."
"Why?"
She narrowed her eyes at me and I raised a confused brow. "Why are you here?" She added.
I sighed at her tone. She let me touch her the other day. We got so lost in the moment and did not realise where we were and what were we doing. I do not regret it though, but I cannot say the same about her.
She doesn't really look awkward or anything else seeing me here. But a hint of frustration was there in her tone.
When will come the day when her eyes will shine with delight after seeing me, instead of looking at me as a culprit.
"How are you?" I ignored her question and asked.
She straightened and gulped before nodding. "Fine."
Though I have warned Jayesh to not try anything stupid again. But I do not trust him. Even if he does harm Prerna again, it's not like I would get to know so easily. Prerna will never tell me, and I am not a mind reader to know things without her communicating with me.
I pressed my lips together and rubbed the back of my neck. "Are you, uh, busy?"
"I was cooking dinner. And then I have dishes to wash."
"Uh, okay, shall I help?" I blabbered without thinking and regretted when she tilted her head, her gaze turning sharp.
"Tum yaha bartan dhone aaye ho?"
"You've come here to wash the dishes?"
"Er, no. I am here to take you on a date."
She stilled, showing no emotion. Gathering her composure, she sighed and shook her head.
"Not interested. If you want to take me out, then inform me at least seven hours in advance."
"If I had informed you seven hours earlier, would you have said yes?" I could not help but ask this.
She literally to turned me down and here I didn't even acknowledge that.
My optimism knows no bounds.
Her lips twitched as she placed her hands on her hips for support. The silence between us stretched while she kept staring at me.
"Maybe." She shrugged and pressed her lips together.
I have been noticing her lips a little too much these days. She must have picked it by now.
Fuck, I want to kiss those full lips.
