Sarthak's POV

I left the hall after passing a smile to Prerna, when I found her looking at me with a pitiful gaze. What's the point of ruth after she turned down all my persuasive actions? It was like a mock to me.

Till that moment, I had found nothing against either Ashish, or his family. Though, I was confident things would turn out in my favour. As a politician, Darshan Bedi was in the hate list and hit list of many. Even the slightest thing, against the Bedis, can be useful. I have no intention of harming his image in any way but I can still use it in my favour.

Darshan and his party cannot handle a scandal now when the elections are so close. And anything against Darshan is automatically against Ashish.

I sat in my car and drove off from the venue to home. I did not want to watch her exchange ring with that asshole. He is a proper person in front of the world but I know there is something that is not right. I can sense it and my intuition is rarely wrong. He has a secret and weakness, and I just need to find out.

I parked the car and went straight to my room. I entered the bathroom, stripped and stood under the shower. The stingy hot water relaxed me and I was able to take my mind off of Prerna and her engagement.

Wrapping a towel around my torso, I exited the room and wore a pyjama after drying my body.

I picked up my phone, and my eyebrows dipped when I saw the notifications. Nineteen missed calls from Gaurav followed by some texts. I immediately called him back, fearing if something unpleasant happened.

He picked after two rings and I addressed him. "What happened-"

"What the fuck did you do, Sarthak?" Gaurav hissed, through the other side, in suppressed frustration and my confusion spiked up.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"What do I mean? Are you trying to play dumb or are you actually dumb?" His voice grew angrier and it irritated me. He was yelling at me without any reason. "I understand you love Prerna and can't see her being with someone else. But your way was so wrong. You ruined everything. What were you thinking before doing that? Is this how you are going to make her love you? By humiliating her in front of the society?"

My breath hitched at Prerna's mention.

"What happened to Prerna? I snapped. "What the fuck are you talking about?" He fell quiet on the other side. "Tell me, dammit." My patience was hanging by a thin thread.

"Are you not at the venue?" He asked, his voice held doubt and dissappointment.

Was she okay? Did something happen with her? By judging Gaurav's tone, something was definitely wrong. So wrong. But why was he blaming me for that? What did I do?

"I am not. I left early."

"Of course you did." He mocked, not helping the situation at all.

"Stop beating around the bush and tell me what's wrong." I warned in my no bullshit tone that was always taken seriously, no matter who was person before me. My rage is something no one wants to see, not even me.

"I sent you a link." He huffed an exhausted sigh. "Read it."

My fingers moved rapidly on the screen. I put his call on the speaker and clicked on the link. It took me to an article from The Horizon News.

My eyes narrowed when I read the headlines of the article above Prerna's photo smiling photo from the ceremony today.

ALLIANCE OF THE RICH SHATTERED: Ashish Bedi calls quit his engagement at the last minute, leaving the usually unstirred COO in tears.
