Prerna's POV
Next morning, I woke up feeling unease in my chest and throat. Rubbing between my breasts, I got up and looked at the couch only to find Sarthak gone.
Now that's a good morning.
As I took a step toward bathroom, I felt slight pain in my feet. Ignoring it, I reached the bathroom and did my morning business.
I wore a blue frock suit with minimal but elegant work and paired them with comfortable, ethnic slip ons. Usually, I wear heels with suits but today my feet were hurt so bad that I dropped the idea.
I tied my hair in a half updo and wore a pair of medium sized jhumka. I wore one bangle in each hand. While getting ready my eyes fell on the vermillion box. The nuptial chain and the set of wedding bangles were placed beside it.
My hand itched to wear that chain but I stopped myself.
I know I should dress accordingly like a newly wedded woman but at the same time, I should not.
My thoughts were broken by a loud, cheerful voice.
"Biiiiiiwwiiiii." Sarthak barged into the room while stretching the word.
My eyes automatically rolled at his high pitch and excited voice.
How can someone be so excited in the morning? Mornings are depressing to me.
But of course he would be happy after all he enjoyed so much yesterday flirting with that woman.
Why should I dress like his wife when he can't act like my husband?
He has a wife, for God's sake. He should not even look at other women let alone flirt with them.
I glanced at him through the mirror once before focusing back on adjusting my dupatta.
"Biwi." He sang again after earning no response from me.
He excitement flew out of the window when I did not acknowledge his presence.
"Naraaz ho?"
"Are you upset?"
He asked cautiously, as if he was taming to a volcano that can erupt any time.
He came behind me and tried to hold my elbow but his hand stopped midway when I glared at him through the mirror.
He remembered that he wasn't allowed to touch me. But I did feel his little touch on my head.
"Where were you?" I asked, not meeting his eyes.
"In the Gym." He answered and I nodded. Ahujas had a Gym on the other side of the backyard.
Of course he was in the gym. It must take a lot time and hard work to build that gorilla size body. I wouldn't be surprised if he told me that he spent more time in the gym than in office.
"Take a bath and come downstairs." I said and turned before walking past him, out of the room.
When I reached downstairs, I found the ladies sitting together. Some were reading newspaper, some were on their phones and some were chatting while having their morning coffee.
"Good morning," I said, trying to make them know about my presence.
"Good morning." They greeted me back. I touched the elder women's feet and they gave me their blessings by keeping hands on my head.
I felt a little awkward whenever I saw them together. I wasn't used to living with so many people under one roof.
I don't know how a joint family works. I don't know how a family works.
