The sun began its slow descent toward the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, and the city awakened with a palpable energy. Streets once quiet now thrummed with life as people hurried along, their footsteps echoing against the concrete. Some were headed home, eager to escape the day's demands and sink into the comfort of familiar surroundings. Others, however, were just beginning their journey into the night, excited for weekend adventures and some relaxation. In this bustling urban environment, lights flickered on like stars scattered across the night sky.
Amidst this dynamic backdrop, Taehyung strolled along the familiar footpath, his hands tucked snugly into his pockets. Despite the serene surroundings and the anticipation of meeting his dearest friends at his favourite spot, weariness etched itself onto his face, visible to anyone who cared to look.
He isn't fond of crowds, yet he finds it a tad absurd to drive to a bar merely 100 meters away from his apartment. His gaze fixed on the ground; he continued his solitary walk, not in the mood to exchange pleasantries if he encountered anyone he knew.
Upon reaching his destination, he pushed open the glass door. Raising his head, he spotted his friends at their usual table, eagerly waving at him. He offered a smile and made his way over to them, taking the empty seat. From the expressions on their faces, it was clear they were sharing jokes, and he couldn't help but wonder if they were about him.
Jungkook greeted him, "You're late today. What held you up?"
"Work," Taehyung replied shortly, joining the group as the conversation flowed around him. He preferred listening, finding solace in the familiarity of their banter.
Glancing around, he noted that indeed, he had arrived very late; the once-empty chairs were now filled with people.
As the evening progresses, the topic shifts to light teasing about Jimin's love life. Taehyung observed quietly, his gaze occasionally wandering to the bustling bar behind them.
"So, Jimin, any romantic prospects lately?" Dodo teased, earning a scoff from Jimin.
"None of your business," Jimin retorted, though a flicker of amusement danced in his eyes.
Their playful banter continued until Jimin's mood shifted, signalling his discomfort. Taehyung noted the change, his empathy pricking as he observed his friend's unease.
"Do you think he might be gay?" she asked again, and Jimin shot her a glare.
"What's wrong with you? I'm not gay," Jimin responded, while Taehyung chuckled.
"But we're not convinced" Aria added, the teasing evident in her tone.
"And what if I am gay?" Jimin smirked, seemingly unfazed as he focused on his glass.
"Then you'll have to find a new place to stay. I can't imagine sharing a place with you, it'd be too awkward," Jungkook quipped, and Jimin sighed in annoyance.
"Come on, guys, let's talk about something else. It's not funny anymore," Jimin suggested, but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
"No, it's hilarious," Dodo insisted, and the others agreed, continuing to jest with Jimin, even crossing into inappropriate jokes.
"But seriously, It's been ages since I've seen you with a girl. I'm starting to wonder," Jungkook commented, and Jimin looked at him in disbelief.
"I mean, I haven't found anyone for a serious relationship yet. You all know I'm not into casual flings like the rest of you," Jimin said, emphasizing the point with a deliberate pause. "It'll happen when it happens," he concluded.
